This is a Moleskin Household!
I love Moleskin notebooks. The leather is always good quality, the spine stays strong for years. The lines are helpful for writing, but light enough they won't really show in a doodle or sketch. Great value for what it costs. These notebooks are always high quality, clean. Lends for a real professional look. The elastic strap to keep it closed has held up for 7 years on my last notebook, far longer than most. Even the paper has a nice quality and weight to it.If you've never had one, try it. You'll never go back.

“Mole Lotta Love for These Notebooks”
I use Moleskine notebooks all the time — for work, notes, lists, and random thoughts. They’re durable, smooth to write on, and just feel better than anything else I’ve tried.Simple, clean, and reliable. I keep coming back to them every time.

I Love writing in this notebook. Just the right size
As per my review of the small, cahier Moleskin, I also use this larger size, lined notebook. It has a soft, supple cover; and the pages are a joy, and I mean a joy to write in. You WANT to write in it. I've been using Moleskins since 2005. I use them at the office to document problems and resolutions, I use them as a photographer out in the field to record photo notes, diagrams as needed, travel expenses; and I put the receipts in the small folder pockets at the back until I return to home base. These books are just so amazing to write with. It's a more personal experience. I could just as easily open up a note app, or voice memo app on my iPhone or iPad and do the same but to me you lose touch with the sensual feeling of just writing. The notebook has a soft cover, the pages are lined and spaced evenly. I write in it with a rollerball, or fountain pen and the pages never bleed, nor smear. So overall if you are looking for a gorgeous, comfortable notebook to use in the field, in your travels, or at Starbucks, this is your book.Enjoy.

My little black book
I love this journal already. Something about a plain black, crisp, professional-looking journal entices me. The pages are so crisp and look great covered with black gel ink. However, I thought I would like the soft cover so it would be lighter and more flexible in my purse and what not, but so far it's gotten a little dented and bent here and there. Nothing too bad, but I wish it was a little more resilient. I guess that's how they all are though. Altogether, I am sold over to the moleskine brand (I never thought I would have been before!)Update: After owning it for about 3 months, I am about 3/4 of the way through it and I'm not pleased with the soft cover. The binding seems to be coming unhinged, and the ribbon bookmark fell off. Granted, I take it everywhere with me in my backpack or purse, but when I use it I'm pretty careful with it and I don't think it should warrant this kind of decay. I still like that the soft cover feels lighter in my purse, but I will go back to hard covers from now on.

Read product description fully.
It is definitely ‘soft cover’ which I overlooked in placing my order. Totally my fault. I used to buy the hard cover of the same page layout for journals I kept many years ago and love these things. I am going to try the softcover and who knows, maybe I will like it better! The soft cover is pliable… like thickened paper with a thin black laminate on it. I had never seen this type of cover before so didn’t know it was not the same as I used before.

These are just beautiful, durable
I don't think I can really add anything that hasn't already been said about Moleskine. These are just beautiful, durable, classic journals. I prefer Moleskine because of the smoothness of the paper. It's smooth without being slick. I find the soft cover journals are more comfortable on the hand/wrist for long writing sessions. The flexibility of the soft cover is nice, too, if you need to stuff it into a bag or pocket. This size is perfect for carrying around. It's about the size of the average paperback novel, but obviously a lot thinner. I think the price is reasonable for something you plan on keeping a long time. I wouldn't pay this much for a journal if I was just writing grocery lists in it. Also, I highly recommend Uni-ball Jetstream bold point pens (the fine point pens don't last long). They write smoothly like a gel pen, but dry quickly like a ballpoint. You can see the writing on the back side of each page, but it's not enough to make it look messy if you write on both sides.
