Great Solution For Future Power Outages!
We recently experienced an extended power outage (30-hours) at our vacation home. I decided I wasn't going to have to deal with that type of situation again, so I purchased a Generic 8000-watt portable generator, a 25-foot power cable, and the Reliance 10-Circuit 30-Amp Outdoor Portable Generator Power Transfer Switch. The unit is very well made, nicely laid-out and easy to install once you understand how simple it is to put in. The plastic pipe that they supply as the conduit between your existing circuit breaker box and their transfer switch could be about a 1/4" larger in diameter. My electrician and I wrestled with getting all of the wires pulled through for about 15-minutes. The instruction manual could be a bit easier to understand if they had step-by-step instructions for the common homeowner. My electrician was more familiar with large industrial power units and had a hard time understanding exactly how simple this unit operates. So I called Reliance, and had him talk to technical support. Once they explained the basic concept we were off and running. It took my electrician about half-an-hour to get everything hooked up, and the switch works perfectly. I would highly recommend this unit and the support that Reliance provides!

Well-made product that is perfect for the task.
Easy installation and well-marked conductors. I found this to be a high-quality device that allows you to make a legal generator connection to your house panel. Perfect for storm outages or in our case, when the utility shuts off power to eliminate wind-driven power lines falling and starting fires. The 1” supplied conduit is a little small, though NEC compliant, for the # of conductors. It would be a better product if you could secure the door without having to lock it. Minor issues but the product would be nicer with these two changes.

Perfect transfer switch for essential zones
Switch is as described. Well made. Amp/load meters work well. This transfer switch is pricey but it is of high quality so the price i think is justified. I coupled with Reliance's 30 amp 4 wire outdoor inlet box placed outside behind the trans switch in garage and it all worked perfectly as you switch on the zones with a good generator. Fits well with 250v 7500 amp/8k peak gen. with 240v 30 amp ext cord. Covers essentials like furnace blower, fridge, freezer, alarm sys Tv, wifi and lights/outlets in desired areas...all really one needs on pwr outages with the 10 zones.

Works as advertised
Wires could be longer. Would probably be no problem if you can mount the auxiliary panel right next to your main panel. I had to make sure to move the breakers I wanted to use to the bottom of mymain panel otherwise the wires provided would have been too short since I had to mount the new panel slightly below and next to the main panel. The exit from the panel is also just barely big enough to accommodate the 20 wires. Once that was settled the panel functions perfectly. Labelling on the wires is very helpful. Seems to be well made and surprisingly heavy for its size.

Good quality and easy to install
After installing both the 6 circuit and 10 circuit units for my customers here is the good and bad about these units.I like the layout of both units, easy to wire in and mount to the wall. The supplied seal-tight conduit could be increased in size. For the 10 circuit from 3/4” to 1”. When your pulling 22 wires thru a 3/4” seal tight conduit it”s very difficult and found myself having to go get a 1” seal tight conduit to make it work, Having the outlet installed in the bottom of the transfer switch is a plus, it saves you time and money in the long run. I also like the fact that seiman breakers are installed for over current protection. Over all I would rate these transfer switches a 10 out of 10.

Love it!
This is a well-designed panel. I've installed three of these over the years. The only thing that could be a little better is the wire marking. The E's can be confused with F's, and J's can be confused with capital I's. Just pay close attention and it's smooth sailing.

Good product
One of the transfer switches was bad when I received it but I was still able to run all the important stuff. Fairly easy to install and has worked flawlessly over the last 2 years. Have lost power 5 times since installing and it takes less than 5 minutes to get the generator hooked up and running. I would still recommend even with the faulty switch.
