Good pens
I bought my first set of LamySafari pens over 25 years ago and still use them. I bought these pens for my 18 year old niece who is going to start college, and I wanted to get her something she could use and will last more than a semester. BTW, I checked, college students still use pens and pencils.

No Refill and Black Ink
The description led me to believe that the ink would be blue and that there would be a refill in the box with the pen. No refill and the ink is black. Disappointing.

Would be a nice daily carry if it, you know, wrote consistantly
The media could not be loaded. I like to hand write all my notes, as well as journal here and there. I usually write upwards of 2-4 notebook pages of notes per day between the two. Because of this, I am always in the market for nice pens and nice notebooks. I decided to give this Lamy a shot after hearing many good things online about them. Sitting at over $20 USD, I was hesitant but decided to be irresponsible and pick it up. I did research before, right?. Initially, I was thrilled about this pen. The clip was beefy, solid feeling pen. This one came with black ink, not blue so the description was off, but I didn't see that till later anyway. However, I soon became as disappointed as a high schooler who didn't get laid on prom night as the ink was horribly unreliable. With even, light to medium pressure I always apply, the ink would still skip and not always write as every other pen I own does. I thought "Oh well I'll keep writing with it and it'll be fine, it just needs to be loosened up". It's been about a month of fairly regular use and it STILL skips. I thought maybe it was just the paper I was using, so I tested on two different papers - a normal steno book paper, and again on a page ripped from my Leuchtturm1917 notebook. Both times, the ink skips often and sometimes won't write at all. I attached a picture of the writing compared to a few other pens I commonly use and a video of what it looks like as it skips (pardon my awful handwriting). When it does write, I'm not happy how it bleeds right through all the paper. I might as well write with a Sharpie marker with the bleed through. I really wanted to like this pen, the construction is awesome, and it's super sleek looking, but these issues leave me and my wallet sad.

Caveat Emptor
This pen can be had at a number of price points on this site. Caveat Emptor. As for the pen itself, it is one step above what comes in a box of a dozen, but not two.
