I rarely write reviews, but this really deserves it!Now, I can't speak to longevity, I've only had it for a few days, but I LOVE it !!!! I had a hard time seeing the digital numbers on my alarm clock on the dresser, and when I put it on my night stand it was to close and I had to raise my head, turn around and look. And it was to bright then. And yeah..ugly too.This clock manages to have the exact right illumination !!! It just GLOWS. You can clearly see the time, almost better at night than day! It is very bright, but in the way a glowing fire is. Its THERE, but it isn't a brightness that bothers you or lights up the room. Its almost soothing to look at for lack of better words.I just open my eyes, see the time, and go back to sleep, no raising up, twisting, squinting, etc.Its worth the expense of batteries, altho I hope they will last a good long time. And I hope the clock itself will last. A good thing is that it doesn't illuminate unless it is actually night time dark. When it is rainy or just "dim" in the room, the lights won't come on.And another thing, this is so timeless and classic looking. So much better than the digital stuff if you care about your room having that kind of style.Love it!

It was really important to us to have a wall clock that could be seen at night. Digital clocks can be unreliable, garish, and they usually have to be close to you to be read - which means they can easily be knocked off the night stand. They also tend to be harsh on the eyes. This automatically-illuminated wall clock offers the perfect amount of light for viewing at night after our eyes have already adjusted to the dark, and its sensor has just the right amount of sensitivity - such that we can still keep our night-light on on the other side of the room without it triggering the sensor to tell it to shut off the light. And that is not just a normal wall socket night light, it is an actual lamp next to our bed. But in a normal well-lit condition for the room (such as daytime but with the blinds closed), the clock seems to know when to light-up and when not to. It's pretty well-calibrated apparently.It uses C batteries for the light itself, and we've been going a month strong already without any noticeable dimming, so it seems the power consumption must be pretty low as well (including entire days where we keep the overhead lighting off, which allows the clock to light up as well). The design is beautiful and it has added a very classy touch to our living environment. We are grateful that such excellent products still exist at value-oriented price points such as this.

Classyi brought two of these for myself and my parent and we both love the style as well as the way clock illuminates at night. It would go with just about any decor.

I like the clock because it's large and has easily readable characters. The 4 C cells run the 4 LED lights around the clock face. They go on after dark. I think it has a motion detector too because the lights are not on all night but time out and turn off if it's dark but no one is in the room.Makes a good kitchen light when getting a snack at night.

Really like this clock and the light sensing feature. Perfect for my application. In place for 4 months now and have not changed the batteries yet.

Clock works great. Like the fact if I don’t want to illuminate at night I can shut it off. Keeps time great too. Grandkids love it because it’s a little night light when they camp out on living room floor .

The media could not be loaded. Update: Had to return clock will not keep time and is very hard to read during the day. Glad I kept packing.Nice clock. Unfortunately I had to take it apart and fix the clock hands. The hour hand was off by thirty mins. The clock is very striking at night but can be a little difficult to read with the light numbers during the day. The clock is silent, has no second hand. Packed well for shipping. I just got today so we'll update my review if ends up having issues.
