The tampon itself is fine and is a good alternative to chemical laden ones
The tampon itself is fine and is a good alternative to chemical laden ones, but the applicator sticks so it can be hard to insert properly. I've had to bin a couple for this reason which makes them less the good value. I've found another organic brand that are easier to use, but I would buy Natracare again if I couldn't get hold of the other ones.Edited to add: Having now used these tampons for a few months I've altered my rating to 5 stars. They are just as good as anything I've used before. And having now understood that if you twist the tube slightly, it allows the inner tube to push up far easier I have no problems with inserting them. Yes cardboard will always be a bit harder to use than plastic applicator tampons. But knowing that the cardboard will decompose a huge amount faster than plastic in landfill makes it worth it. These are brilliant, highly recommend them and give them a chance to get used to them if you're switching from plastic applicator ones...it's worth it!

Fantastic organic tampons without the carginogenic stuff!
I bought these tampons after the leading brand, Tampax, started causing me problems including itching, bloating and swelling of my lady parts over the last few years. After researching I found that the leading brands of tampons that you can buy in Boots etc use rayon and chlorine-bleached cotton to make their tampons and that dioxin is a by-product of this bleaching process which is a carcinogen. This was enough to make me change to organic cotton tampons and I have not suffered with any of the above problems since changing. No itchiness, pain, swelling or bloating since using these Natracare tampons and they have made my periods a much more bearable time! I will continue to buy these fantastic products, especially now I know I won't be putting carginogenic products inside my body! No issues experienced with absorbancy or long threads etc as mentioned in other reviews, only down side is the lack of 'light' or 'mini' varieties but maybe they will introduce these in the future. I buy them from Amazon who always sell them at a competitive price as the shops in my village don't stock them unfortunately.

Buy organic and bleach free
Tampons are a potential source of chemical exposure. Most tampons are made of cotton or cotton blends, although some tampons are made solely of rayon. Agricultural soils contain both metals and pesticides, which originate from the use of fertilizers, sewage sludge, irrigation water and fertilizers containing metals, and the direct application of pesticides. The accumulation of metals in soils of cotton fields is an emerging public health concern because of rapid industrial development and increasing reliance on agrochemicals. Studies have shown that cotton plants can bio-accumulate various metals, including lead, copper, zinc, and cadmium in different parts of the plant. The chlorine bleaching process may contribute to dioxins and furans in tampons and fragrance chemicals, such as phthalates, are likely to be found in scented products. Identifying specific chemicals is challenging due to the lack of labeling requirement for tampons.Take care of your bodies, ladies!

Finally an affordable natural alternative!
I wanted to try a more natural tampon product than the products offered in the supermarkets which are often bleached and harmful to ph levels. I found this brand and am so glad I did- the product is great, it’s soft and comfortable to wear, just as good as others with the added benefit of being better for the environment. Will definitely continue to buy these and recommend.

Just like the top non eco brands
Just like the top non eco brands. Been using for 4 months and never had a problem once inserted. However, before inserting you need to push the inner tube into the outer tube slightly to release the tampon a little, otherwise the tubes get jammed as you are mid push and you end up having to abort the process and use another one. There seem to be little hooks in the cardboard which makes pushing the inner tube up into the outer tube difficult and these little hooks are not needed.

Good tampons
Anything in that is natural is the best.

Russian roulette with the applicators
Russian roulette of tampons. I loved them at first but over time I’ve had issues.’ve had boxes that worked perfectly and were just like their nonorganic equivalents for comfort and application, then I’ve had boxes where I’ve thrown away tampon after tampon because the mechanism for the applicator is totally broken. And yes, I’m aware there is a locking mehanism that you need to twist to use them, this isn’t the issue. The issue is the applicator sometimes sticks or bends and will not go up without a ridiculous amount of force, which causes the applicator to crumple, or the tampon to shoot out before it’s inserted, making the whole tampon useless.

Recommended. Similar to big brand tampons but organic.
These are great.I was a little concerned they wouldn't be as absorbent and I have only given that bit 4stars becuase they don't swell/expand in the way non organic ones i've used do, so i felt a little paranoid i might leak. I did change them quite frequently to be sure but I didn't leak and felt so much better knowing that I'm not putting anything harmful into my body. They also come in cardboard and paper packaging which is all recyclable. I will be buying again.
