We had been through a number of different sink protectors, all of the flexible plastic variety, and each with their own deal-breaking disadvantages: discoloration, splashing of water between crevices, or covering the plughole, etc.This product is different: it's made of firm plastic with a rubber-like coating on the top surface; it sits slightly elevated to the sink, meaning water can run freely beneath it; and there's a gap for the plughole. It measures 30 x 30cm in whichever configuration you choose.So far, the product has been very easy to clean: it comes apart, and the fact that it's rigid makes it a lot easier to clean than flexible plastic. Its rubber-like top coating has been resistant to staining, whereas our previous sink protectors have become stained after two or so uses (from curries, and the like).The gap for the plughole is essential, so the sink protector can sit happily in place without having to constantly be shifted around in order to direct small particulates down the plug. This is doubly true because it sits slightly elevated to the sink, so water runs underneath without having to pick the sink protector up and rinse every time (that said, we tend to wash it each evening).I think we have a fairly large kitchen sink, so some people might be put off by the smaller size of this sink protector. I've attached photos so you can see how the protector fits in our sink. It's a slight shame that the sink protector isn't wider, but were our plug on the left hand side, I'd be writing to say I wish it were longer instead of wider. I guess this is the shape that will meet the majority of people's needs. As it is, it really hasn't been a problem.Most of our washing up is done under running water. But I did fill the sink up to test whether or not the sink protector floats: thankfully, it remains in position, seated at the bottom. What I'm particularly glad about is that running water doesn't splash up when hitting this sink protector. Previous ones were usually shaped as pebbles or circles joined together, and where water would hit the gaps in between, a spray would be directed in every direction getting everything wet. This doesn't happen with the Joseph Joseph.I would definitely recommend this sink protector to anyone who has had similar problems with flexible plastic ones in the past. I rate this product 4.5 stars out of 5 overall, dropping half a star merely because I would wish the item to be slightly wider (but I also realise that there would be no universal consensus on the ideal size of sink protector, nor has its size been a particular problem).

Really great product ideal for resin sink

Got this as had a new kitchen fitted and got a lovely white sink that fits into the worktop and did not want an ugly bowel.This is the perfect solution, fits perfectly, protects the sink, easy to use and clean.

I have bought so many sink protectors. The one where you cut it to fit the drainage hole don't work if the drainage hole is near the edge of the sink, the mat eventually breaks at the weakest part . Thus one configures to how you want it. Brilliant! It's not as large as the sink but it's the size of our washing up bowl which sits nicely on top of it. It has room underneath for water to flow so no lifting the mat to let anything drain. Only had it a day but it looks sturdy and is working well. A little more expensive than some but well worth it.

Great idea but unfortunately couldn’t get it to fit properly in my sink which is rectangle with side plug

I’ve had my sink protector for around 6 months now and there are some things I really like about it. Being able to move the configuration about is very useful and I like that I can run it through the dishwasher. It has definitely prevented scratches on the sink and protects my vintage Pyrex dishes from damage against my ceramic sink. Knocked 1 star off because it no longer clips together securely and if bumped the two pieces separate.

Quality protector. Easy to use. Value fr money.
