Rome Industries Pie Iron Sandwich Cooker

Love this pie iron. Initially when I received it I thought it looked too small for a standard size slice of bread, however allowing for the indentation of the irons it became apparent that the size is more than adequate.It took a while to season per the instructions - cast iron retains a lot of heat an took time to cool before applications of shortening but once done I had great fun experimenting with toasted treats and didn't have problems with sticking. I tried egg and bacon toasted sandwiches, toasted cheese filled tortilla wrap, and finally apple pastries using store bough ready-rolled chilled croissant dough and tinned apples - all were super easy and were a winner with the family. With a hot fire from a small firebox stove I was turning the pastries and sandwiches around in about 5 minutes each. There are lots of recipe ideas on youtube.Well pleased with this pie iron. It's going to be a great addition to our camping kitchen and depending on how we get on in the field I may purchase a second one.

Just so much fun on a bbq, firepit or even a bonfire! Toasties never tasted so good.

Toasted campfire sandwiches. Works well with a little patience to get the sandwiches out. Found placing bread in side on works much better

I purchased 6 of these for a summer project working with children and their families. After some research, I was informed that these were a good, well made brand. On there first use, two broke on the hinge while being used by families, and another the handle dropped out. That's a 50% fault rate. I contacted the sellers (Rome Industry) direct, as their website suggests they will deal with any issues due to faults on the manufacturing instantly. To be fair, they responded quickly and I sent them photos of the problems and they were surprised by the fault, which they suspect might be a hairline crack during production. They promised to send replacements. I purchased these in July 2019, and it's now January 2020, and despite follow up emails, I still haven't received my replacement pie irons. Will not be buying these again and very, very disapointed with what I thought was a reputable family business :(

Works great with super crispy toasted sandwiches. Like others have said, cut off the crusts from standard white loaf and they fit fine. I make up a few sandwiches and then toast one after another, as they are so popular. Work great over a gas hob.
