needed to connect two RJ45 connectors that network different instruments on a boat, wires had to be cut & re-terminated to fit through an opening. These replaced several attempts at various other F-F connectors that had all failed to maintain a solid connection. While it is inside the boat so waterproofing was not required, this is well made and very solid, connection has been reliable and robust, and the fact it's waterproof is a nice bonus. I'm a network engineer so I have extensive experience with networking gear, and while it's only been installed a month my experience tells me that this unit feels like something that will be reliable for many problem free years.

We used one of these to repair a CAT6 going to a POE camera... We are camera install experts, thought I'd try this. It looked really high quality and well sealed. We re-terminated the RJ45's, even went the extra step of using G624 silicon dielectric waterproofing grease. After the repair it was fine, then it rained for a couple days and the client called saying the camera stopped working.I went out for the service call and I tested the cable with a CAT6 verifier, the coupler was totally fried, all the internal wires were shorted, when I took it apart water leaked out, but since I had the silicon grease that seals and it repels water, is non conductive, and can handle high voltage, it doesn't make sense other than the internal conductors are ultra thin wire that easily shorts or something.Horrible trash that cost me time and money, never buy this, it can't handle a little rain or apparently POE 5 watts... Junk
