Works For Us...
I got this because a 6 month (or so) old cat decided I needed to rescue her. I got this because it was tall enough so she couldn't jump over it at that age. Now that she can clear it without a thought, the training I was hoping for when she was young has resulted. She knows she "ustacould not" jump over it, so now she doesn't try. Mission accomplished. (In all respect to how well behaved she is? I do not want her in a room with guitars on stands, amplifiers, keyboards, you get the idea.) So, I'm very happy with how this gate has served my purpose (it was more of a conditioning tool when she was young than accomplishing anything other than "Oh, I tried and tried and tried and I can't jump that" in the back of her mind now.). I'm not going to type "Mission Accomplished" because the minute I do? All bets are off. After all...She's A Cat!! (I type that with the utmost affection. All cat owners know...Cat's have humans...or Cat's have Humans as Staff. Not the other way around.)

Completely misleading/false product information
It says pressure mounted, it is not. It says "no tools required"; this is false. Both of these for the same reason - what you see in the picture is not the reality of what you will receive. The top and bottom are not between the sides as shown, but rather the sides are between the top and bottom. End result, the top and bottom overhang to the same depth as the pressure pads (in some spots, not all), which require holding cups to be screwed into the wall for the gates to work. Worse yet, it is not lift and lock - the picture shows a lever action using a lock that is open on the bottom. The locking cuff is actually closed on the bottom as a solid sleeve, thus disallowing lever action and require the install to be slid into place, which is why the pressure pads don't work even if the construction was corrected and why it requires the door-frame mounted holding cups instead. I saw someone else had this problem and figured it was fixed by now. Nope. Still false advertising. The assembly and cups even say that the holding cups "must be installed" in order for the gate to work. Even if I was okay using the holding cups, the set-up and take down is a pain in the but due to the closed locking cuff disabling the lever function. Processed the return within five minutes of opening the boxes. They look nice enough, but the functionality is completely absent and the advertising and pictures of key features completely false.

Functional but a little clunky
Bought this to cover a larger than normal staircase opening for our new puppy. It works, mostly. it does cover the 44" opening. However, it does not seem to handle very well if you have things like an oversized floor molding. The general operation of it is not very smooth. i am hoping it is just due to newness and it will smooth out with use. The two places where it seems to stick is in expanding and contracting, and the other part that I have to struggle with is the plastic bracket which holds the lever in place. Long and short, it works but it is a little hard to operate (at least right out of the box). Good part is it is not that expensive so if you can take a chance with it without much risk.

Nice, inexpensive gate for those who read the instructions and take some time to get used it it.
I needed a 'keep the dog inside gate' for my front door, I chose this one because it seemed to be decent quality and I liked the dark brown finish, also it was cheap in back in Aug 2019 when I bought mine and it is still cheap today in Oct 2022.Back when I got mine I read the instructions and spend 15 minutes just handling the device and getting used to the way it works. How people are breaking these is something I will never know because in a proper installation there is almost no force on any part of this gate. ~3lbs force is all that needed to keep this firmly in place. No it is not a security door and putting 60lbs force down to lock it in place is only going to break this gate. BTW I already knew the answer but I was curious what the company had to say about all the broken gates in these reviews here at Amazon. I called the company and they confirmed 100% that ~93-98% of the broken gates are from people who were unwilling to read the instructions and learn how to properly use this gate. Take your time and enjoy many years with your gate. Mine is pushing 3 years of age and it still works like new. If you are using this on an outside door and it starts raining then take it back inside, this is not a gate for outdoor use. If it does get soaked, just take it inside and let it dry off on its own. I have let mine get soaked many times and letting it dry off on its own brings it back every time. Here is to 3 more years! :-)

Nice looking pet gate
I’m using this gate to keep my cat from going upstairs while my granddaughter is sleeping in my loft. Because of the trim, it had to be installed higher than I would have liked but I plan to stuff a towel or pool noodle underneath. I was happy to find a gate that was wide enough for the opening. I was planning on getting an expensive handmade gate but I realized I would have installation issues with that as well. This gate was hundreds of dollars cheaper, looks nice, and will do the job.
