Best higher-end ear buds on the market!
These Sony earbuds are the best I have tried out of the following brands / models that are all in the $250 - $300 range:- Samsung Buds 3 Pro - runner-up to Sony, but failed after a few months and would only allow multi-connections with other Samsung products. I struggled getting these to work on airplanes, even with my bluetooth adapter because these other connections are not Samsung, however, if you are using Samsung products these are great! Nowhere near the battery life of the Sonys, though, struggling to get 4 hrs with ANC on.- Technics AZ100 - tied for 2nd place with Samsung Buds3Pro - and are a worthy competitor to the Sony's with a couple exceptions - a) these struggle to hold a BT connection in busy places, such as airports or airport lounges, and, b) the noise cancelling does not work well on airplanes, rather, they actually magnify conversation sound from seats around you - very weird. Nonetheless, if you use noise cancelling earbuds for travel, these won't suffice for these two reasons.- Sennheiser Momentum 4 True Wireless - nice sound, but noise cancelling struggles outside, particularly in the wind. No wireless charging - just not worth the price tag - even with a steep discount.- Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra - great sound, but horrible app experience with an Android phone. Would lose connections with the app and often with the phone altogether, requiring you to remove the app, reinstall, redo your settings. This happened each of the 3 days I owned them, so they quickly went back. I don't have time for these, but I did get to fly with them, and the noise cancelling is the best - and the Sonys are equally as good. Now to the Sony WF-1000XM5s - These sound awesome, fit well, and have excellent noise cancelling. They also shine where each of the above struggled: easy to connect and manage multiple connections, really work well on airplanes, have great smart features that learn and react to different environments and help set the equalizer. These are well-worth the money, even at full price. I would much rather pay full price for a product that works well and does not frustrate me. Each of the above work well in certain conditions, but don't perform well in all categories like the Sonys, and, in my opinion, are not worth the price, even with a discount. The only negative I see is the ear tips - they are not as comfortable as some of the others, but this can be remedied by purchasing after-market tips. I see this as a minor inconvenience that I would likely change anyway with most earbuds.

Great product
At first I was skeptical getting these tiny ear plugs. I used to have a big headset. The ear plugs work awesome and the battery lasts longer than expected. They are easy to use. I like how they fit in the case and stay charged. The locator function works awesome as well. We got a second pair for my son who loves them and takes them to school everyday

Unpleasantly surprised
Good sound, good app, ANC close to non-existant. It seals ear well, but ît is almost impossible to hear the difference when ANC is ON or OFF.

Product Review: My Experience with the Sony XM5 Headphones
I purchased the Sony XM5 headphones after reading several comparisons that ranked them as the best on the market. I was already a fan of the brand thanks to the XM4, which provided me with a fantastic experience. However, I must say that my experience with the XM5 has been disappointing. From the very beginning, things didn’t go well. I received the headphones in a box without the security seal, clearly indicating they had been used. Despite this, I decided to keep them because I urgently needed them. Unfortunately, by the third day of use, the left earphone started to malfunction and produced defective sound. My first reaction was to return them and switch to another brand, but I decided to give Sony a second chance. The return process was simple and satisfactory: within four days, I received a new pair and sent back the defective one. When I received the new XM5 headphones, they were perfectly sealed and worked flawlessly at first. However, shortly after, the same issue reappeared: the left earphone started to malfunction again, and this time, the problem was even worse.Faced with this, I had no choice but to request a refund. I am now waiting for the money to be refunded so I can invest in another brand that I hope will be more reliable and durable. Conclusion:Although the Sony XM5 headphones promise a lot, my personal experience has been frustrating. The quality and durability of these headphones are not up to the expectations, especially considering the brand’s reputation and the product’s price.

Amazing earbuds... but upgrade the eartips
These are absolutely the BEST earbuds on the market with even next generation buds not being able to match their performance. However, the stock eartips kinda suck. I switched to COMPLY tips (knowing they wear out and will have to be repurchased) and have turned these into the perfect earbuds. If you replace the eartips, not matter the brand you use, make sure you get tips with a filter imbedded into them to prevent earwax from getting into the buds.

Works well if you can find a cushion that fits your ear.
The noise-cancelling feature works well if you can get a good seal in your ear. My problem is finding a cushion that fits my ear canal. When I can get a good seal it works great, but after a little while, it will work its way out, and the outside noise will leak in. I guess it just depends on the shape of your ear. I also have the Bose Ultra Quiet Comfort, and these are a better fit and provide the noise-cancelling I want. I work in a noisy data center, and the Bose greatly helps tune out all the noise.
