A great trimmer!
Powerful electric trimmer--if you have a long enough cord for your yard. The wheel on it, makes for easy edging. Appears very well made, and really easy to use. Adjustable for all sizes. The string-spool is very easy to remove & install. Highly recommended.

FIRST DAY - Super impressed, worked better than expensive name brand as much 5/5
For the price, I was not expecting much. I have a small yard and could not justify the price or storage space for a gas-powered or larger unit. So, I took a gamble on Black & Decker. There were a few negative reviews of this product, but reading them ( as I always do ), it seems like most of the 1s were shipping problems, broken on delivery, or user error.A weed-eater is a pretty simple mechanism, so I took a chance and it seems to have paid off. This took "literally" 3-4 minutes to unbox and set up. I did not even have to look at the manual, though I did glance at it before I used it to see if there was anything important I missed. I missed nothing.I circled the yard clearing up weeds and along the house and brick edging in 10-15 minutes. Got some nice exercise and sun and the unit gets compressed for storage and is easily put away.I recommend this for light yard duty, and perhaps even a larger yard if you are on a budget and probably will not abuse the tool. Just be patient and let the string do the cutting.Oh, and did I mention this thing is super-light? I was initially skeptical it could do the job when I unboxed it, but its lightweight is a plus.As always, if I have a problem with this, it breaks or turns out to be too expensive to operate ( some reviewers have claimed the ate up a whole spool of filament in their first use - mine did not ) I will return and update my review.Very ... no, exceedingly happy not to have spent a ton of money on something that is not that important to me, but needs to get done, and to have gotten a superior tool for my time and money. I'd call it my Best Buy of the year so far. Rating 5/5 - Highly recommended.

As Darth Vader would say, impressive, most impressive.
Having been used to B&Ds battery units, i wasnt expecting the performance of this corded trimmer. After 6 years of using a B&D battery trimmer, and suffering the last two with battery charging issues, it finally crapped the bed. So i got this, sick of charging batteries and having them last under 10 mins a charge. And if i am honest, the battery units didnt have the power for the tough stuff. This 6.5amp corded unit is a lot louder and more powerful and if you live with St Augustine and or Bahia grass, this unit is the business. It doesn't have the trigger lock like the battery units so be careful, also it uses a two prong cord not the expected 3.It cuts through overgrowth with ease especially if you are edging. The edging wheel is further out than the battery model, so it helps cut through taller st augustine for edging. The only negative is the auto spool. Hence the4 and not 5 stars. I went through the included spool doing half of .12 acres. Luckily i had a spare spool from the battery trimmer, so i was happy they are compatible. The extension cord held in place. Only under stretching the cord did it get unplugged. But watch out not to go over the cord. The trimmer will pick it up quick and wrap it around itself quick. Ask me how i know 😄Assembly was easy, the only screw is for the trimmer guard and its already screwed into the guard so youll have to unscrew it. The adjustable handle was easy to put on after you realize you have to push both sides in on the trimmer to slip the handle on. But after that, it slips on easy.So yeah. Its a great trimmer. Very powerful but it goes through the spool incredibly fast.

This thing rocks!
Love this!Would give it more starts if I could, this thing is an unstoppable force even against sticker bushes.anything pencil sized or smaller it would chop it and mulch it before it even hit the ground.bigger stuff with a little patience and taking smaller bites at it would handle those as well.yes it will go thru a spool of string.took 1.5 spools for my yard and the large patch of black berry bushes that were trying to eat my house.but 15 pack of wire spools is 15 bucks on here.super easy to install new wire.love this thing.no bumping auto wire feed.the 15 pack string was stronger than what came with the trimmer.super powerful trimmer.its a great buy!

No problems all the way to the end of the spool
I had an old Greenworks string trimmer that I found in the basement after I moved into my new home. Maybe it was just old, but the auto-feed didn't work well, the line was always running out, and I spent more time rewinding the spool than cutting down weeds. I had almost lost my faith in string trimmers entirely. You can spend $300 on one, but how much better are they? I didn't know. This Black & Decker was only $50, and although it's corded, my roommate convinced me it was worth not having to do the dance of recharging batteries, plus having full 110v power. Some (easy) assembly required out of the box, and this thing was basically plug & play. I did read through the owner's manual first, which gave amateur me some confidence through a few helpful tips. I use it not only for cutting down weeds, but also for cleaning out weeds from the cracks in my sidewalk, and the edger wheel is very helpful for that. More importantly, the line had no problems all the way to the end of the spool. Faith restored, there are good string trimmers in the world. That being said, be aware that the line it comes with isn't very long. My lawn is medium-size, and it ran out about halfway through. The Black & Decker replacement spools are $10 / 30 ft (much longer), but it goes through line, so this could really add up. Replacing the spool was easy, and I was able to finish my lawn with plenty line to spare. A quick search on Amazon reveals off brand spools at $15 / 12-pack. I haven't tested them yet, but the price difference is so great that I'm going to give them a chance.

affordable option for those on a budget
powerful, and better than an electric one that needs charged all of the time. a few heavy-duty outdoor cords and you're good to go!
