WORTH THE EXTRA $$$ over LED or LCD!!!
If you purchase this (K-65XR80) Bravia 8 tv... YOU ARE NOT MAKING ANY MISTAKES!!! We're still using the earlier models of Sony LED and LCD Bravia sets in our house and one of the 65" LCD sets lost it's backlighting. This is our first OLED set and we never knew what we had been missing all this time! The difference in details and colors, it's like comparing a digital signal to analog signal ALL OVER AGAIN!!! All our sets are on the walls, If you're a wall hanger like us, just know this 65" only weighs 42lbs, wife and I hung it and we're both 66yrs old, the old 65"LCD we replaced was much heavier and not so easy to get down off the wall. Some reviews said that this set is hard to get set up in settings, gets extremely hot, powers off...blah, blah.... we breezed through settings very easily and after that we watched 3 movies back to back and yes it got a little warm, but that's to be expected with OLED technology... same as your phone when you've been using it for a long time. We do not have any complaints about this set and the only difficulty is going to another room to watch one of the other Bravia LED or LCD sets, they are not so great anymore. We will only be buying OLED from now on!

First OLED TV 10/10
The media could not be loaded. My first Sony product since the Ps2 lol. I’ve only had LG and Samsung TVs, this Sony TV is really nice idk what I’ve been doing this whole time. The TV it self is really light compared to what I’ve owned. The other brands are good, but the vibrant nature and richness of the picture is astounding, any kind of content I put on is always top notch quality and great clarity, it immerses you even more. The smart features of the TV was nice for set up, sign into your google account via phone and you’re all set up, haven’t really used it for anything else as I stream via Apple TV. Granted this is my first OLED tv so maybe I’m just easily impressed, overall a great TV. Note the sound is from my surround sound system not the tv it self, my phone also doesn’t capture the full richness of the TV picture is kind of overexposed, overall extremely satisfied with my purchase.

So far so good- UPDATE!!
Day 1-item arrived early in the day, unboxing and set up were pretty straight forward. I am very happy with the display of this television. Everything works as it should and I believe I will remain happy with this purchase.Update and a "star" is deducted!Okay-so a mere 48 hours after receiving and setting up the TV, the ARC/eARCfunction on the TV stopped working! Just for no reason at all-it wasn't working, and it was impossible to reprogram ARC/eARC to work again. Wading through hell and high water, I just unplugged all the HDMI cables from the TV and my receiver. Unplugged the TV and the receiver. LEt them both sit for about 10 minutes. Reconnected everything and still did a hard reset on the TV and finally-i was able to assign HDMI ports and get sound to my receiver again! I hope I won't have to deduct another star. I really want to like this TV!Day 9-back to a 5 star rating. The Arc/eArc function on TV has been working properly for the past 7 days. I guess everything has settled in and TV has been everything I hoped it would be. I am pleased with this purchase.Update again-2 weeks later and the Arc/eArc feature is back to not working properly. it turns off my AV receiver, but it won't turn it on! I am keeping this at a 4 star. Very disappointing.Update June 2025- 4 months, 3 software updates, 1 remote control software update later and this TV is FINALLY operating correctly on a regular basis for the past 9 days. I put it back to a 5 star rating-but will keep my fingers crossed!

happy with it so far
My last Sony Bravia purchase was in 2009, so upgrading to a Sony Bravia 8 in 2025 was quite a contrast! The first thing I noticed is that it was loaded with junk apps exactly like new phones and computers. I spent several hours googling the Sony’s apps to determine their function and then uninstalling or disabling, followed by maximizing privacy settings, clearing caches, tailoring the Home screen, etc.Next I installed the two apps I use for TV: PBS and Apple+. Both loaded seamlessly after username/pw verification.Next I cycled through the Settings options several times to check and/or change/re-check the settings. I’d really recommend familiarizing yourself with all the settings and googling separately on your phone if you’re unsure what a particular setting does.Today I connected the DVD player via HDMI, turned on the Sony, and expected it to notice that a DVD player was connected, just as a computer would do. That didn’t happen. In fact after connecting the DVD successfully I spent HOURS trying to get the picture to display on the Sony screen. Jumped through so many hoops that I don’t recall how I fixed it. Let’s just say that it works now. But what a battle.Other observations: The sound is…ok. A sound bar would be a good addition. Picture: Great! Remote: Just stupid. I taped over Netflix and the other buttons to streaming services that don’t interest me. (Sony must’ve been gifted a tidy sum to include these companies on their remote.)Overall: I’d recommend this purchase if you can be patient and try various settings (if needed) through trial and error. This is a very nice tv.
