High quality cutter head great value
Everything was right about my experience. I purchased one because they got good reviews on YouTube. I wasn’t disappointed. First of all, the package arrived way earlier than expected and it came with high quality packaging all rust prevention and the bits came out of the Machine so I didn’t have to take them all off to install it in the planer. I took my time installing this and I actually enjoyed it. I had looked at a couple of videos so I knew what to expect. The direction are in color and good. My advice would be to watch a YouTube video before you even start. The only complaint I have about the directions is that they were rather small paper they were written on. I’m 61, and my eyes are getting bad so that could be the excuse I’m going to use lol. So everything came about on this rather well it took me approximately 3 1/2 hours to do the full uninstall and install. I’m sure I could’ve did it a little quicker than that if I pushed myself, but like I said, I took my time and enjoyed it. Two things that you will need if you do not have them you need to order them maybe from Amazon? You will need a pair of snap ring pliers because there’s three snap rings to take off, and you’ll need a 1/4 inch torque wrench or torque screwdriver Because you’re supposed to torque the bits down to 46 inch pounds.

Great to use, simple to install.
Produces a beautiful surface on the wood. A pleasure to use.Relatively simple installation. You do need circlip pliers with both large and small tips. And a torque wrench for 6 Nm with a T20 Torx head.

So far good to go
Item arrived well packaged. 60 cutter heads supplied, 48 needed. About an hour later all heads were attached and torqued to specifics. Haven’t installed in my DeWalt planner yet and will update on further impressions if something comes up to lower my rating.

Great replacement
Changed the head with little trouble. Tried it out and didn't seat one insert (56 inserts) right, opened up the cover and reset the insert and no problems. Great finish and a bit quieter.

Get it
I should have gotten this years ago. It's such an improvement over straight knives.

Outstanding product. Longevity, quieter, smoother finish.
Quieter, smoother finish, longer lasting, great for hardwoods and soft. The installation is tough, but hey. It upgraded my planer to a much better product.

Quiet smooth
This is excellent. Good value for the price, easy install but like others said, you need some fine pliers or you’ll suffer during the install. Easily cut the noise in half or less and a somewhat smoother finish. The amazing reduction in noise was worth it alone.

Cutter Shaft Not In Spec
Based on the positive reviews and attractive price, I purchased this cutterhead directly from FindBuyTools. It arrived in a reasonable amount of time and was well packaged. I removed the old cutterhead and installed the new helical one into my DW735 planer. When I tried to install the key for the drive pulley, it didn’t fit into the keyway slot on the shaft. In addition, the pulley would not fit onto the shaft. I struggled with this for over two hours trying to figure out what was wrong. I eventually removed the cutterhead from my machine to get a better look at the threaded end of the shaft. As it turns out, the shaft keyway was not machined properly. You can see from the included photo that the keyway is uneven on the left-hand side. It should be 5.0mm in width, but it was more like 4.6mm. Additionally, the end of the shaft had a ridge on it. It should be 17.0mm, but was measured at 17.12mm adjacent to the threads. That’s why the pulley would not fit. I contacted FindBuyTools and included these two photos as proof of the issue. They asked me to provide a video of my measurement process, which I reluctantly did. They did end up sending me a replacement cutterhead which resolved this issue, but they refused to pay for the new pulley and key that I had to purchase as the original ones were damaged when trying to get them on the out-of-spec shaft. In the end, I was happy with the upgrade to my planer, but was disappointed with FindBuyTools quality control and customer service. Hopefully, you won’t have this problem, but I would recommend test-fitting the key and pulley before installing the cutterhead into your machine.
