For the price it's nicely made and clever
I bought the 16.4" compound/recurve and the mid size compound. Obviously these aren't made to be serious bows, they are fidget toys that look nice and actually function. That said, there are no "compound" actions on any of them by common definition. A compound bow has eccentric pulleys or cams to reduce the effort needed to hold the bow at full draw. These bows have concentric pulleys so while that changes the action and draw weight there is no "let-off" at full draw.Arrows have no feathers or fletch to spin the arrow and keep flight straight. There is no real rest point for the arrow on the riser so accuracy suffers dramatically. The materials are nice and durable, and they feel solid with real bow string. The arrow spline (stiffness) and weight are not well matched to the bow for good flight. With these issues I still give 5 stars for value since they are fun little models to play and tinker with for few dollars. I enjoy mine. One more thing. For the manufacturer, you're so close to having a miniature bow that actually performs like it should. A matched arrow with fletching, cams or concentric Wheels, and a rest for the shaft that does not deflect the flight and these things would be incredible. I would easily pay twice as much for that.

Powerful
This is a great little mini bow. Very powerful. When I gave it to my husband on christmas, it only took him 5 minutes and one try to accidentally shoot one of the arrows directly into my tv screen. Went right in, no problem. Ladies, if you get this for your husband, send him outside with it.

Works, lots of metal.
Get the biggest one. Little thing works, better to make your own arrows, lighter. Its a lot of fabrication for a cheap thing like this. So its cool for the price, but get the bigest one it will be much more fun and less of a toy feeling.

Hard to hold
So it's fun. Arrows shoot hard enough to pierce thick cardboard 3 meters away. The arrows are strong, plastic tubes with dull, metal arrowheads. You have to assemble these parts into arrows taking care not to bend the tube or shaft for the arrow when forcing the arrow head into the tube. Holding the bow while shooting is troublesome because there's no true place for your fingers. Pulling back on the string with the arrow is also troublesome because the arrows are not notched, it eventually hurts the finger tips. It's fun but get the smaller version with bigger holes for your hands.

Love the item, need the notches!
THIS SHOULD BE 5 STARS BECAUSE OF HOW COOL IT IS, BUT WE DIDNT GET THE BACKS TO THE ARROWS, was able to rig something up to fire a few but I want the whole thing and this is how my friend told me to do it. AS SOON AS U SEND THE NOTCHES FOR THE BACK WERE GOLDEN ABD IM CHANGING TO A 5 STAR!!!! (10.2)

Funny gift
It is a super fun gag gift for a hunter. But it is NOT a toy for kids. It has some speed behind the arrows, and they are fairly sharp. Be sure to read the dimensions. I am glad I got the size I did otherwise it wouldn't have been fun for my husband.

Seriously fun bow and arrows
These are all over the place, and just took a chance on this one. I like it. It's what I expected, and functions pretty good. Not for precision or power, but it's potentially dangerous, and a lot of serious (careful) play.

Disappointed
The bow was effectively unusable - there was no way to nock the "arrows" properly. The bow is fine but the projectiles need serious work. Cannot recommend - Fisher-Price would have done better.
