We've purchased this shampoo a number of times over the years. It works well for removing buildup, and leaving hair clean, soft, and shiny. It is somewhat expensive, but we only use it occasionally and think it is worth the price.

If you have oily hair and an oily scalp and/or especially if you use conditioning products containing silicones or other occlusive ingredients, then this product is for YOU. If you have dry hair and a dry scalp and/or very sensitive skin prone to irritation (although my skin is relatively sensitive, it doesn't bother me personally) and/or do not use products containing silicones then this shampoo might not be what you are looking for.Review:This shampoo has been very effective at preventing any buildup of oil and product on my very porous hair and oily scalp! It makes my hair feel very clean and soft without stripping it so much that it feels weak and squeaks on my fingers. The scent is a very mild acidic/citrus that I find very pleasant! The shampoo contains Alpha-Hydroxy Acid which is a great gentle chemical exfoliant popular in skincare that will leave your scalp feeling fresh and de-congested. The slightly acidic pH is also beneficial for your skin barrier and hair cuticle as these structures are naturally acidic. I am prone to acne on my scalp and this does a good job of preventing it.Usage Tips:Keep in mind that this shampoo is NOT intended to replace your regular shampoo, as it is still much too harsh to use every wash; only use this shampoo when your hair is feeling congested and heavy or once a week. A little goes a long way! Professional products like this tend to be pricier than drugstore not only because of higher quality ingredients, but they are typically more concentrated and not diluted with as much water; a nickel- to quarter-sized amount is plenty for me. Focus on massaging and working this product primarily into your scalp, as your mids and ends collect less buildup and oil and this will be a bit too harsh for them. Do not worry if the product does not foam aggressively, this means it is working! Rinse and wash gently a second time with a small amount of your regular shampoo before conditioning as normal.

I have very hard water and it ruins my hair ,,, turns it an icky orange yellow,, sometimes greenish cast,,, after using this hair cream, it brightens and removes some of the iron residue and makes my hair a more brighter natural blonde silver shade. Only problem is it leaves it drier, but I then use the Redken conditioner to balance and soften it.

edit on 4/13/2023: Use it with a conditioner 100% and if you have dandruff, don't use this! I changed my routine to using this shampoo now about once or twice a month, because it still does a good job. However, at some point my scalp began to get itchy + produce a lot of dandruff. So, its very drying and not ideal for a dry scalp. Switched back to head & shoulders, although I know Redken has a dandruff option as well.Every time I washed my hair, I'd be oily the next day. This shampoo added an extra day of not having to wash (sometimes more making it so I wash on the 4th day,) which I appreciate a lot. My hair is on the thinner side but it is long. So, I do two rinses. You can feel how well it removes oil build up. Wish it had a conditioner but I read you can pair it with any Redken one so... Not bad. Been using it for a month now.

I rarely write reviews but this product was so good that I have to! I purchased this because out of nowhere, a month ago, my hair became extremely oily and stringy. I have no idea why. I've never in my life had oily hair. (I'm blaming preimenopause....). I used this shampoo and then my regular conditioner and I could not believe how amazing it worked. I have my hair back! No oil at all! I will experiment with how often I used it as I suspect it dries out hair enough that you wouldn't want to use it every shower. I will try either as needed or once a month. But this product was a godsend to me!

i freaking love redken. it’s my go-to always. this shampoo makes my scalp feel so clean without stripping the hell out of my hair. i use it once a week to detox all the buildup from oils and products, and it always leaves my hair feeling fresh, bouncy, and soft. the lather is insane, it smells good which is typical for redken, and it never makes my scalp itchy or dry. for someone with fine, oily, color-treated hair, this is that girl. total staple in my routine.

It's a good clarifier it's pretty strong. I like it I don't love it. Maybe cuz I'm pouting a little bit because I miss apple pectin hair clarifying shampoo but since they don't make it anymore this has to suffice it's more of a cream base than a shampoo. It smells like a citrus wax. Not really a fan of that but again it did its job and it's fine.

This is really good effective clarifying shampoo. I don't find it over- drying but I'm not using it daily. Clarifiers are not typically meant for daily use, but if you had really oily hair, I would suspect this would be good for daily use. I would also suspect that this would not be good for color treated hair and might strip color.. This will not help dandruff. I am not sure why they call this shampoo a "cream shampoo" it lathers well, just like any other shampoo and is pearly white in color with a mild pleasant smell. I think sensitive skin would do well with this shampoo for those reasons.
