When I'm out on the trail, the one thing that I value the most is a tight backpack. It is a latent requirement from my time in the military. I really don't like thing flopping around when I'm moving. This is a remarkable tool, and very close to what I used in the Air Force. So much so that I would venture to say that if it were OD Green, I might not know the difference.With that being said, its biggest detractor is the case that it comes with. Yes it will attach to the exterior of my bag, but the carrier really isn't the best quality. I can tell that less care and effort went into the design of the carrier than they put into the tool itself. The snaps on the carrier will pop open it bumped by a tree branch or anything else that happens to catch the flap.The tool itself is a little on the heavy side, and when combined with the included carrier, it adds an extra two pounds to my rig.Don't let my criticisms de-sway your purchase of this item. It really solid, but as with anything that is valuable, it definitely comes with a weight cost.

I received my TAC9ER E-tool on the 4th day after I ordered it on amazon. It was well packaged and arrived without any damage.This tool is an exact copy of the US Army E-tool whose design is, in my opinion, far better than all the "multitools" sold on amazon. The entire tool is made of heavy duty iron with NO plastic parts. The locking mechanism is tight. The spade head can be securely locked in 5 different positions just as the Army E-tool.The tool is shipped UNSHARPENED. The thick layer of paint may even round off all four edges a bit. But after only a few hours of recreational use on a beach, the two front edges already lost their paint and were quickly being sharpened by the sand. With more usage I think it might eventually be sharp enough to cut my finger, or cut/chop/saw down a tree.I will not repeat its versatile functionality here. Any one familiar with the E-tool should already know that. Forget about those flimsy and unproven "multitools". If you want something tough, reliable, and can complete real world heavy duty tasks, this is the only design.
