Perfume Oil Better Than Cologne Spray
Looking for the right gift for an aspiring writer and this was just right. It was a conversation starter, for sure, and everyone had a different opinion about the authenticity of the scent relative to a paperback book. I can't pinpoint the smell exactly myself, but I do know that I liked the perfume oil better than the cologne spray, but gifted both so that the gift would be more substantive. The oil vial was a little too small for a gift, in my opinion. Anyway, everyone enjoyed the concept and everyone took a whiff, making it a unique and well received gift.

So convenient
Bought this for my daughter's birthday. She loves the convenience and the scents. A tiny bit cheaper than Demeters actual site too, but not sell the scents.

Great... After a few hours.
I quite like this scent after it's has about three hours to mellow. It's got that sweet vanillin note you want for old paper, a touch of dust, very subtle acrid note for old ink.But when first applied, it's just absolutely overpowering black pepper and nothing else. Eye-watering, like sticking your face directly into a spice bottle and blowing it straight up your nose. That might be a characteristic of the perfume oil, and I do plan to test out the room spray at some point in the future, but I don't think I'll be purchasing the roll-on again.

Hardly any scent and scent smells more musty butter than anything
Bought this for my wife as her main hobby is reading and she loves the smell of a book. I have not given it to her yet and not sure I will. It has the faintest smell ever...like barely there. My nose is a lot more sensitive than my wife's and I doubt she will be able to smell anything. The scent itself to me smells more buttery than anything. Actually it smells kind of like this butter we had one time where, I think I got some good cheese funk on it. The funk grew on the butter and then it smelled a bit like this and tasted like a mix of butter with a blue cheese. Actually as it dries on the paper I put it on it is smelling a bit stronger and reminding me more of that musky butter with maybe a hint of something else. I can't place what the hint is of. I don't know....this paperback fragrance smells like something I want to put on my popcorn.

I love this long lasting fragrance
Demeter oils are among my favorite fragrances. Easy to apply via rollerball, fits into any purse, and reasonably priced. I just discovered Paperback: subtle and long-lasting.

new favorite scent! a little sweeter than i'd like
new favorite scent! a little sweeter than i'd like, but it is definitely book-worthy. word of advice (pun intended hey-ooooo), apply over unscented lotion for all-day staying power, otherwise the scent wears off quite quickly (why IS that, demeter?).

Not for me!
Reminds me of an older lady with peppermints in her pocket at a southern baptist church. Kind of minty. Just not what I personally want to smell like! Definitely not a bad perfume though. Lasts pretty long.
