BEST THING THAT HAPPENED TO MY KIDS FOR LUNCH TIME
I am so glad that I bought this thermal. I loved it so much that I bought 4 of them! And I’ll probably buy more. I tested how long this thermal kept warm by adding boiling water to the thermal and close it. I checked on it 3 times within a 24 hours period. After 6 hours, the water was still hot and steaming. After 12 hours the water was still a good hot temperature but not burning to the touch. But definitely hot. And then after 24 hours the water was no longer steaming or hot but Luke warm.My kid’s school do not have hot lunch services. We have to pack our kids a lunch. They do have a microwave but the lines for the microwave is so long. By the time my kids are able to heat up their foods, time is up for lunch. So I bought these thermals so that I can prepare hot meals for my kids. And 9/10 times, the meals that I have packaged for my kids are still yummy hot when they open the containers for lunch 4-5 hours after I packaged them. These thermals are NOT microwave safe! They wash very easily by hand or in the dishwasher.Someone from another review recommended that we fill the container up with boiling water first, close it, leave the water for 5-10min, dump the hot water out, then add your hot foods to the container. Don’t forget to push down on the middle button on the lid for a good seal. If you don’t do this, your top might pop off if it is tipped on the side or upside down. I had to learn this the hard way.At first I thought that the price was expensive for the product. But after using the product for several months now, it is worth every penny. I have bought more since. This would be great for road trips and picnics too, not just to pack lunches.Works for cold foods too. But my kids like hot foods so I mostly make only hot foods to put in the container.

Truly keeps food warm
I use this to bring my breakfast to work each morning. I typically have over easy eggs with veggies and meat. There are usually 2 1/2 hours in between the time I make breakfast to the time I eat it and the eggs still have runny yolk and are warm by the time I eat them. I was skeptical of purchasing this because of the reviews saying it’s too hard to open. As long as you press the release button, this is not hard to open. There is a lot of room in this and it’s easy to clean.

LOVE THIS - but a little hard to open - trick to closing
I bought this to transport hot meals to work for lunch and it does a fantastic job. I was worried that it might be too small, but it's just the right size for me. It does keep my food warm. Some mentioned it leaking heat. It does leak some heat out of the top so I wouldn't put it near something you want to keep cold.It is hard for me to open. There is a handle on the top, but no handle anywhere on the body. So, it tends to twist together when you try to unscrew it. I've found along with pushing the release button that I have to hold the body between my legs to get the proper pressure to keep it from turning. There is a trick to getting it to screw closed correctly. I found that because my hot food is putting off steam, the lid doesn't always screw down correctly and would always pop out of the track.. What works is to screw the lid part way down, press the release button and then screw it down the rest of the way.

not dissapointed
Wife likes it. After 6 1/2 hours her stew was not hot hot but pretty warm. Just right to eat.

Does not keep food warm.
Update: seller reached out. Seller reports that this thermos will only keep your food hot for a max of 4 hours. I personally did not see this any where in the listing. Furthermore, I tried the chicken noodle soup one more time and the second time was ice cold by lunch time. Based on the other reviews, it sounds like I may have received a faulty product but the listing also is not clear on product performance. It’s a very cute thermos and it holds a lot of food but unfortunately does not keep food warm very long like other thermos’ on the market. Will be returning.———————————————————-Does not keep food warm for very long. I have used this thermos for 2 meals since purchasing it. The first was some chicken noodle soup, which it keep a little warm for about 4 hours. This wasn’t great but it was acceptable. I packed some rice to eat with some fish the next day (preheated the thermos with boiling water like I did the day before) and my food was cold 4 hours later. This thermos advertises that it is double insulated and while I can’t feel it hot on the outside, perhaps it’s not keeping the cold out either.Either way, this is an expensive thermos that does not do the job. Would not recommend.

Keeps Food Warm, but Not Hot, Even After Pretreating with Hot Water
Update:After discovering that this container didn't keep food warm after the 3.5 hour mark, my daughter gave up on this container. She was particularly peeved that her lunch was just slightly warmer than room temp on a particularly cold day, even despite the container being in her backpack in her heated classrooms. We ended up returning it and she went back to her smaller narrow-topped Thermos food container, which kept her lunches piping hot.The Bentgo Stainless Insulated Food Container is everything my daughter wanted in a food container. It has a wide-mouth opening, holds the perfect amount of food (about 2 cups), is conveniently shaped and sized to fit in her backpack, and the lid is one piece instead of two and is apparently easy enough for her to open. While aesthetically everything she wanted it to be, the one thing she didn't love about it was how long it kept her food warm. Even after prepping the container with hot water and allowing it to sit for some time to "prime it", the container wasn't able to keep her meal hot by the time she ate it. Her food was warm, but not steaming, and while it was much better than eating lunch from a Pyrex meal prep container, it wasn't nearly as warm as food put in a Thermos food container. If you eat your meals within 2 hours, the meal will likely be very warm, but at the 5-hour mark, it will only be "kinda warm" - it was for her at least. When keeping things cool, the Bentgo container works great. Overall, while we'll keep this container because she loves the size and shape, we're still on the lookout for a wide-mouth container of this size that keeps food hot.
