Q: Does royal mail support this barcode scanning idea?

Hello, Thank you for your question. We are currently in contact with Royal Mail regarding this.If a retailer insists on a signed for delivery, then the couriers can sometimes not over rule the request of the retailer(sender); this is especially true for high valued items or of shipments of critical nature, i.e. passports or legal documents. In such an eventuality, the couriers are also constrained.We shall keep you updated once we receive for further news. I hope this will be helpful.

Q: Is it suitable for having newspapers delivered? I am having a new door fitted without a letterbox so will need the Daily Telegraph to fit into the box

Yes it will take a newspaper, but the smart parcel drop box is not 100% water proof. The one I have is fitted to the wall under a porch and we have not had any issues with it so far. Parcels up to the size of a shoe box posted in it so far.

Q: Are letters secure in the box? Some have mentioned being able to reach all the way in.

You can see if there is post in there if you open the lid slightly to a certain angle but I think it would be extremely difficult to extract any through what is a very small opening. Parcels certainly could not be extracted in this way.
