Does the 27cm include the handle? Also, how thick is the iron?

Yes, it has a handle. I haven't got it in front of me. I think the thickness is about 0.5 cm.

I paid more for this supposedly pre-seasoned product yet the enclosed leaflets say I have to rub salt and oil then bake it on! Why?!!!

Gentle washing and not scrubbing with metal pads helps. Then I just wipe it with a small amount of oil after every use. I’ve had pre-seasoned pans before and it seems to wear off with use. Then I’ve every now and then rubbed with salt and oil and put it in a hot oven to re-season it. Acids etc can interfere with pre-seasoning. Hope this makes sense.

Is it suitable to use on a gas hob?

Yes. I used it on my electric hob and it was ok but better on a gas one (tried it with a friend who has a gas cooker) where you have more direct control over the heat.Moya
