Great for the money...should last through many dowel holes....
I am only giving this five stars because it is a great tool for the money. They make tools that are well over $200 that will do the job with more precision, but for me this was the perfect solution. It is actually well made for a piece of plastic (although the holes are steel lined)!I built a tall jewelry box with about 15 drawers in it about 20 years ago but never mounted the top to it. Not sure why, but I didn't. It just sat on there!Using this tool I was able to drill dowel holes in the top and base and finally mount that top. Yeah, I might have overdone it with 12 dowels, but now I can lift the 5' tall box by the top!Don't forget to get dowel center points to ensure you can line up your holes. Impossible to do without them.

Good Jig with Pros & Cons
Preface: While I ended up returning this product because it did not fit my specific needs, it did still have some pros in comparison to the Milescraft 1319 Jointmate jig that I did purchase in its place.PRO: This jig has a longer fence which makes it easier to clamp into place. It also has a ruler on the side of the jig to allow for quicker adjustment of the fence.CONS: The fence adjustment screws are not as easy to adjust as the knobs on the Milescraft. The Milescraft has a center line guide instead of a ruler on the side of this jig, which I prefer.Biggest Difference: This jig has a 6mm bushing where as the Milescraft has a 1/4", which is more common to my projects.

Nice product
Bought the dowel jig to make a large wood storage box. Worked great and made lining up the dowel pins and holes very easy. Worth the money.

Melted after a days use on hardwood but appears suitable for lighter applications
I think this jig would have worked fine for softwood but I used it on hardwood boards. Because it was harder to drill into I had to screw on a frame to hold it in place which worked until the drill started to blunt and all the extra heat melted the enclosure making it pretty much useless within 24h of arriving.Still gave 4 stars as I think it would have been fine for light usage on softer wood.

A VERY cheap alternative to purchasing a festool domino.
This product does what it is designed to do. The only negative feedback I can offer is the inability to clamp it down to free up a hand and allow for a clean straight drill. When you drill with one hand into hard wood your bound to make an angled hole. Also because you can’t clamp it will cause holes to not line up exact.

It’s ok
It is easy to use but not strong and my drill bits don’t fit I. The guide.

Not precise at all
There are protruding plastic labels to identify the hole sizes that prevent the proper setting of the tool against a board's edge. Even after removing them, the tool does not have anything to hold it against the board's edge and ends up misaligning without you noticing until you put the wood joints in, when it's already too late. I bought it for a single job and got two holes fairly aligned, the other four were bad. It was cheap, but still not worth the hasle to use it.
