Great product
Arrived lush and green. I wanted to see if I would have luck with zoysia grass. I planted in empty patches in my front yard. Watered as directed and thankfully we had alot of spring rain showers. I am waiting to see if the plugs survives Texas 110°+ summers before investing in more plugs. I would highly recommend! I was very skeptical but I really wanted to try zoysia grass. It's now first of June and all plugs are surviving. This grass is not a fast spreader. Very pleased with this company's product.

These Zoysia Plugs Are A Crapshoot!
The good news is that I placed an order for one tray of these Zoysia Plugs a few weeks ago. The grass arrived very green and healthy. I planted the plugs, and they are all doing great so far. The grass is still nice and green, and it is slowly starting to grow. Now the bad news. I thought since the first order of plugs went so well that the second order would also. Not even close. The most recent order I placed was terrible. The grass plugs arrived all wet, slimy and dark green looking. They looked and smelled like rotten, wilted lettuce. I gave the plugs a lilttle water, and put them in the sun for a couple of days (just like I did with the first order of plugs that are doing well). The grass has since turned brown and died. I am not going to waste my time planting a tray of dead grass plugs just to see if they "might" survive. I am in the process of requesting a new tray of plugs from the seller. We will just have to see how that goes. In the meantime I am enjoying the grass that has been planted already. As for the dead grass, not so much. I am giving these Zoysia Grass Plugs 3 stars because the first order I placed was 5 stars, and the second order would be 0 stars if I could give it that rating. You can go ahead and order these Zoysia Grass Plugs at your own risk, because you never know what you will receive. This is really nice grass when you DO receive "live" plugs.

Surviving My notoriously black thumb
The plugs arrived over a week earlier than expected and they were gorgeous. We opened the boxes and set the trays in the yard and watered for two days before we could plant.Planting was ridiculously easy and took no time at all. Our soil pH was ok so we set straight in without adding nutrients. A little sandy in that area though. Hubby eyeballed the first tray and planted too far apart but I filled in with the second. Most of the plugs are now approx 12 inches apart. We planted in an area we wanted to test first, reason for only two trays. Near an oak tree that gets direct and filtered sun from around noon until 6. We were not sure if it got enough sun given the coverage of that tree, and there are several other trees in our yard that posed the same threat. We watered every morning between 6 and 7 for three solid weeks and are approaching the end of week 4, we have watered every other day this week and for shorter duration (15 mins compared to 45). We intend to mow this weekend for the first time prior to planting the four additional trays we are expecting, since I do need to fill in a few more in this area.We have not lost a single plug, they are all very green still and most are spreading. We have 5 or 6 looking a little puny but they were deliberately placed near weeds and roots to test for strength. Still green, but possibly suffering. The weeds are growing with all the watering and I will now begin pulling them but I left them alone since realistically they will appear until these have filled in and I wanted real expectations for maintenance needs. We have ordered four more trays expected this week to squeak in before it's too late to plant. We live 25 minutes SE of the Raleigh in NC, have had very little rain since we planted these, and a great many days exceeding 95 degrees. These little suckers are survivors.Pictures taken three weeks apart so difficult to see a difference but enough in real life for my mailman to get excited about them after returning from a weeks vacation.Update April 8, 2018: It’s been a weird winter with not much spring yet but last week suddenly almost all of the plugs turned green. There are about a fourth of them struggling, but they are in a high runoff area but are slowly greening up. I’ll post more pictures after the last freeze is behind us. Very pleased to see them at this point. Ordering more next week.

Healthy plugs but lighter in color than expected
I got these plugs to help fill in a northern lawn that would always weaken and thin out during the summer allowing weeds to take hold. There are certain parts of my lawn that aren't shaded and get a lot of sun. So my requirements were to have the new grass survive these conditions and both fill in and blend in to the existing lawn. The plugs arrived green and healthy and they were easy to plant. I had read that some people think Zyosia is a good stand in for Fescue lawns due to more similar leaf structure. This is true, but Zyosia is also lighter in color something which may not be as noticeable when comparing online. I've also attached an image juxtaposing a Tahoma 31 plug at the top, the Zyosia plug at the bottom, and the current Fescue lawn around them. The Tahoma 31's color blends in better despite having finger leaves. I guess we'll see how it goes.
