easy to install, works as expected
I installed the sensor in a 30 year old and small RV. biggest challenge was to find a good locations in the limited space. The instructions provide some guidelance regarding suitable locations in RVs. The installation itself is easy, cut out some wood panels, connect wires, done. I did a test run with propane gas, and the alarm sounded as expected. Note that the sensor is good for five years. Also note that it draws I believe 90 mA from the deep cycle battery. I will install a switch to turn it off during RV storage when the propane tank is closed to avoid battery drainage.

Seems to work great
Had to replace an EOL (end-of-life) detector in a motorhome. Installation took a couple of minutes and it seems to be the exact replacement for the previous unit.

Have to have one & easy to install
I've had several of these exact units throughout the years, I understand they only last 5 years and they fail right on schedule. This one was defective on arrival with an internal intermittent connection. Amazon replaced it within 2 days, no questions and apologizing for the inconvenience. ( Buying from them is great ) However the MFG date is March 25 2018 does the 5 years start then or when I installed it in October 2019 ?

Exact replacement
Exact replacement for my older alarm, which reached it's end of life. Exact fit without any modifications to the "hole" that the older one was installed into. And it appears to be working properly (no false alarms).

Very easy installation
I bought the 40-442 propane detector to replace an old one that had reached the end of its life cycle. The new unit was exactly the same size as the old one. No modification of the RV's wall surface was needed. Since the old unit was hard wired with RV-industry-type wiring connectors, I left them intact. I simply snipped the two wires leading to the old unit, discarded the old unit, and connected those wires to the corresponding wires of the new unit with wire nuts and tape. Last step was to fasten the new unit to the RV with the original screws. Easy and quick. Now, the green light indicates that it is working as it should. The instructions are thorough and written well. I'd rate it five stars except for the price, which seems on the high side, although, to be fair, I have no idea what goes into manufacturing the thing.

Exact replacement for my existing detector
Not sure what some of the other reviews complain about - this is the exact replacement for the detector in my 2005 Four Winds 23a (ex Cruise America). The old detector beeped and flashed the alternating red/green LEDs and it was time to replace. Absolutely a drop-in replacement, took all of about 10 minutes from start to finish and I was on the road. FWIW, the detector I replaced was dated 2008 so it's unlikely I'll replace this one before it's time to trade in/sell/quit RVing. The usual Amazon Prime fulfillment meant I didn't need to delay my trip.
