LG DP122 DVD Player with DIVX and Audio CD Recording to USB

We purchased this DVD player to replace our last stand alone model that died unexpectedly. This LG DVD player is pretty simple and doesn't have a lot of extras that are available on the market. But that's okay because it was priced very nicely. We didn't need a DVD player that had a USB import or multiple outputs or SMART capabilities. We just needed something that played DVDs. We have a Boxee box for all of the fancy features. The remote is simple, straight forward and works well. The player has adequate outputs (AV and HDMI) which worked perfectly for our home setup. The picture looks good and it plays without complaints. I will probably pick up a second to keep as a backup if this one ever dies, if I can find a good price on it.

If you enjoy downloading YouTube videos, you can forget about playing them on this device. There is no excuse for this. The MP4 file format is widespread and universal, and to be ignored by LG is baffling. You will have to convert every MP4 you own if you watch to watch them on a TV with this player. You should NEVER have to 'convert' a video file to make it watchable on a given device.Too bad. That cost it 2 stars instantly. You have been given a heads-up.On further review, I decided to take another star away. This is because even if you use a file-conversion utility (Format Factory, for example) to convert from MP4 to AVI, you are still rewarded with a message in wonderfully-crafted Chinglish..."not support format"If it wasn't such a hassle, I'd return this player to Amazon and pay a little more for a lot better player. LG has lost points with me big-time. (See below.)Bottom line: if you are expecting to watch video-on-a-stick, be advised that this unit will NOT play flv, avi (!!), MP4 or wmv. It will play mpg and DIVx only. But you should *NEVER* have to convert a file to play it on this device. They should have issued a firmware upgrade to fix this issue ages ago. Shame on LG.

I was looking for a dvd player to connect to my old tv. This player had the old style connectors, rca/component, that I required and it played the video just fine. I am upgrading to home theater style speaker system so that should improve the audio output as opposed to tv speakers. I do have a blue ray player and 24" led video monitor but lacked the sound system at purchase time.It was bought for a make do situation. I also use it in a small room.My price was lots cheaper than the current price!

Product arrived in item box and no outside container, padding or protection. Band on box was snapped, box was gauged and taped shut but allowing hand to reach in and feel DVD player.Product door where DVD is inserted was dangling by the clip that was not snapped off. Machine does not respond to it's own remote commands.LG is better than this but the seller did a very poor job of securing item.Tossed in trash, won't seek a refund, just chock it up to a hundred dollar lesson and move on. LTS. Life's too short!

This is an amazing price however you do get what you pay for. It's a simple Dvd player, that's all. I needed this player for the spare bedroom because I only watch movies in there, and the DVD player is pretty loud. But honestly its not so loud where you will notice it when your in bed but only when you stand next to it. So if you want a decent dvd player for a low low price, trust this brand! It's also small and compact so it stays out of the way.

Super little DVD player! We weren't impressed with the little portable DVD players (too many bad reviews etc), so we went with this sturdy DVD player which works great! Nice little size too but pretty sturdy (we have our little TV sitting on top.) Comes with a cute remote, easy to work etc. Catching up on all our DVDs will be a breeze! We highly recommend this one.

This DVD player works as it should, but it is very basic. The thing I really don't like is there is no display on the front to tell you how far into the movie you are... when I'm in bed at night, I like to know if I have 10 minutes left, or 40 minutes left. It annoys me to no end so we bought a different one and put this one in the guest room.

I generally don't leave reviews nut this dvd player is great and with the ability to play my videos from a flas drive is great as well. The remote is small but a good size and a proper layout, which some remotes make no sense. Had the product out of the box and was using it in under 2 minutes. Tested a dvd and a usb flash drive and had no trouble with either. Ordered one for family room and one for bedroom and now it seems i need to order a third for the basement!Great product and great price!!!
