Installed in my garage and it works fine.
I could not hear the indoor siren in my garage. I installed the 5800 WAVE in the garage and it works.Note that a receiver / transmitter (5883) that supports the 5800WAVE is required.

Good build quality, complicated configuration
Bought this to add on to my alarm setup recently. It's a well constructed unit, though it does take up both outlets on the wall, and was a pain to configure due to poor instructions. My best tip is don't misunderstand the dip switch section and leave switch 6 enabled when you don't need to. It's loud, but much more high frequency than just obnoxious loud, which is kind of what I was looking for.

Loud ... excellent addition to the Honeywell l7000 or 5200
Very, very loud siren ..... if you are used to those tiny little x10 sirens, you need to know this is generations ahead .... the unit will cover the entire AC outlet ..... it is screwed in place for additional tamper security ... it has an on-board backup battery if it ripped away from the AC socket during an event .....To install you only need to open the back of the siren .... attach the battery lead to the PC board .... set the dip switches to your l7000 or 5200 house code .... replace the back cover, and plug it into AC ..... it will now react to any alarm event on you system .....Technically, you don't have to plug it into an AC outlet ..... you can plug it into an extension cord and place it any where you want ... I.e. conceal it behind a potted plant or what have you .....It's expensive, but you should have at least a couple for that 'surprise' factor to the intruder when the alarm is sounded ..... it's also an additional sounder when the smoke or carbon alarms sound .....//Carl

Works great as an additional siren
It worked OK but I did notice that it is not as loud as the AC siren. The other issue I noticed it that the battery once charged, does not last very long. Thus the 4 stars rating. Could just be a bad battery. But, its great for adding a remote siren anywhere there is a 110 V plug and not have to run wires. It also has a tamper switch where it will set the siren off if it is unplugged for some reason. I placed it in my garage and it works fine. Works perfect with the Honeywell Lynx Touch and is easy to program right from the Lynx touch screen.

A bit on the Big Side
Easy to setup and configure. Reasonably loud. It is a bit on the big side so I hid it behind a chair.

Backup battery died in less 3 months.
The product has good sound and works as expected. But, the backup battery it came with failed in 3 months. This is un-acceptable quality for the price you pay.

Honeywell Ademco 5800WAVE Wireless Siren
I ordered this from Amazon Warehouse, so this is probably not a fair comparison for ordering it new. Please keep that in mind. Here are the problems I had:1. Security switch was not usable. The magnet appeared to be permanently attached to the switch. Do not know if this was from manufacturing or if someone else had done this to the unit since it was from a return.2. Unit would not pair with system. According to the programming guide this should have paired with my system but it never did. Again, do not know if that is a unit defect or not.3. Case was held together with only a single screw when there should have been 4.Potentially, this could be a great wireless addition, but not if there is not a tamper circuit and not if it does not pair. I returned the unit to Amazon Warefhouse and just hard wired in a bell.

Overpriced for what it is. Backup battery failed less than a year after purchased.
Works as advertised. When the alarm siren turns off on the Lynx, it takes much longer for this 5800WAVE to turn off. It's a shame the Lynx series panels do not have an easier way to add inexpensive sirens.Currently you have to add expensive and slightly complex circuitry to do so which is a real shame. The backup battery didn't even last a year as I noticed the other day it had a battery failure. The battery date was less then a year old and it was the original factory battery. For the price, the backup battery should be of better quality. One other mention is that you need a standard duplex outlet. It uses the center hole in the duplex outlet to properly support the heavy weight of this and to ensure proper magnet clearance for the tamper option.I have Decor outlets, so I tried it out in several areas. Once you decide where it is best located, you can then swap in from a Decor to standard duplex outlet.
