The Essential Edible Pharmacy: heal yourself from the inside out Review: This had my kids eating brussel sprouts, people! - I grabbed this book at the library on a whim, and after looking through it and trying some of the recipes I had to own a copy. I generally don't buy very many cookbooks because most recipes are online, and most cookbooks don't have a lot of great recipes to make them worth the money. This one's worth it, though. First of all, the photos in this book are absolutely stunning. It's eye candy just to look through. I've never seen more appetizing veggies. Second, the recipes are delicious. There's an incredible superfood shepherd pie, delicious brussel sprouts, and lots of other really yummy recipes made with healthy and good for you ingredients. And they actually taste good. three out of four folks in my family are what I'd call vegetable resistant. The recipes in this book are so good all of us were eating them. Third, the author goes through each of the ingredients and clearly explains the science behind why it is good for your body. Then she includes at least one delicious recipe with that ingredient. Many of the ingredients are things I know are good for you, but have trouble finding recipes my family will enjoy that include them. Review: great info on what nuts/seeds/veggies are good for and how to use them for health - This book is just what I was wanting. Lots of great information on nuts/seeds/veggies and has really nice photos too. The pages show photos and then tell what they are good for and how to use them.

The title is misleading!!!
This book does NOT go into detail about specific edibles that address aliments. It simply provides a single recipe for each basic foods that we all know are important to eat like: cauliflower, carrots, beans, nuts, seeds and fruits. Additionally, the recipes are dull. There is no interesting or enlightening information on the pages... not sure why anyone would need this book. I was hoping for information that assisted in curing aliments...

I love this book! Manolas guides you through over 60 vegetarian foods, explains why they're good for us and how we can incorporate them into our cooking. I've followed quite a few recipes and they've all proved easy to follow and very tasty (apart from the carrot cake which was a disaster!). This is a great book if you are interested in the health benefits of food and want a few new recipe ideas.

Had been expecting more recipes, but I love this book anyhow, because it's an easy to read guide without any annoying tones in the writing, plus it gives you all the nutritional information with added information that I hadn't heard of before. It's a good educational read, and I recommend it to everyone; especially those of you trying to get into shape or want to make a start. The easy to follow recipes are, from what I've tried, very delicious.
