The Certified Reliability Engineer Handbook, Third Edition 3rd Edition

Book covers everything you need to know to pass the CRE Exam!

This is a great price for this product. Note that it is the Indian version and will be shipped to you from India. However, I don't see anything about it that is different from the American version other than the price.

First, the edition I received is the "approved for sale in India" version.. The physical quality is excellent and the book was even shipped with reinforced corner guards - good job!I understand that this is book represents a "review" of the Certified Reliability Engineer BoK and is not intended as a comprehensive instructional text. However, fairly or not, I am comparing this Handbook to the Certified Quality Engineering Handbook.In doing so, it is my opinion (the only one to which I am entitled) that the CRE handbook provides less explanatory information and the examples provided are not as "understandable" as those in the CQE Handbook (except of course for the sections that were basically excerpted from the CQE handbook).I quite often had to re-read sections to grasp the flow and frequently found myself myself asking "where did he/they get that number/factor/information?" I feel that many of the example calculations would benefit from more explanatory detail akin to that found in the CQE HandbookDuring my initial read -through of the materials I made a substantial list of concepts/terms/calculations to research elsewhere. In a sense this might be deemed a "positive circumstance" if I consider my list of questions as additional "references" to add to the those cited in the handbookAll things considered I found this Handbook fundamentally useful but only marginally satisfactory for my learning style.

The quality of the book is good, unexpectedly. Unlike described in other reviews, mine was genuinely shipped from US.

As far as I can tell it is identical the the US printed version. As a training or review manual its very complete on the CRE subject matter, and certainly useful.

Oh, the irony. As others have said, this book is printed in India but is the same as that offered by the ASQ. It doesn't function well as a stand alone text. One should resort to a good statistics reference to get in-depth context.THE CONTENTSIn my first 20 minutes of skimming the material I found two errors: [1] Example 6.15 (pg 94) shows the incorrect formula for a combination although they magically use the correct formula when plugging in numbers. Incorrect: n!/n!(n-r)! Should be: n!/r!(n-r)!. [2] The formula for a standby redundant system is wrong (pg 193). The first "t" term should be in the exponent. If I (a novice) can find these on my first glance, I shudder to think what other errors the editors have missed. If they can't be bothered catch such errors by the third edition, they should at least publish an errata.THE PHYSICAL BOOKThe printers of this issue should be embarrassed. The binding glue is inconsistent and has leached up some some of the pages as much as an inch from the spine. Opening a new crisp book can literally break the spine and tear pages.THE SELLERThe seller was quick to respond to a pricing error and offer a partial refund. I'm adding a star for their actions.
