This an underrated mic
This is definitely an underrated mic by musicians and sound engineers alike. I used to use it on my classical guitar some 20 years ago to gig on non concert venues. I even used it one time paired with a condenser exterior mic to play as a soloist with symphony orchestra in a big outdoors concert venue. It always worked fantastically. I lost it, and later started using other mics/pick ups. Just a few days ago I ordered a new SM 11. When it arrived today, I got thrilled testing it again. What a good sound out of my classical guitar! It's natural and full in range and tone. I used to placed it on the whole using the little tie clip that comes with it . Now, that I have a guitar with a sound port, I placed it there, and the sound is even better. I connected it to a Fishman Loudbox Mini (60W). Just needed to adjust the low, mid, and high frequencies, add a bit of reverb, and everything sounded great. I'm not fan of writing reviews, but i think this mic deserves more attention by classical and acoustic guitarists as well as those who do sound for them. Additionally, I don't think there is a better bang for the buck out there.

Awesome mic, one of the few low sensitivity (-64 dBv/pa) mics out there.
I love this mic. I have a dirtbike youtube channel where I ride a 2-stroke dirtbike with an open face motocross helmet. This mic is so awesome, because it's got such low sensitivity it makes the engine a lovely background sound and my voice comes in perfect. Every condenser mic I tried had way too much sensitivity and would pic up wind and overpowering engine noise. I have this paired with a Tascam DR-40 and my gain is turned way down. If people on here reviewing this mic understood mics they wouldn't say what they do. It's a low impedance -64 dBv/PA dynamic mic. If you don't know what that means you don't deserve to review this mic.

Gain hungry
I am using my SM11 with a Tascam US-1x2 preamp and I am mostly happy with the results. Initially I used a Blue Icicle audio interface but this did not work at all. The preamp had too little gain and it was extremely noisy. The results are better since I switched to the Tascam which has more gain that is very clean. I am still not sure if I have quite enough gain so I am considering a Cloudlifter CL-1. I would prefer that the product description was more explicit about the gain requirements. I found an obscure statement on in the Q&A section of the Shure website saying that the SM11 wants 80dB+ of gain. I have the impression that this is much more than most (larger) dynamic microphones and it would have been very helpful to have that number in front of me when selecting a preamp.

Companies like this need to invest more time and having their descriptions match the actual product
Overprice for Quality don’t get fooled because of this Brian’s name because they do create the best microphones for professional use the market this one at a low price thinking you’re getting a deal but really it is horrible this is one of those things where you either go big and buy their top end products or Don’t even bother purchasing

Shure Quality, But You Need Lots of Gain
The Shure SM11 lav mic is solidly built and has the renowned sound quality you would expect from Shure. The only thing you must know up front about this mic is that your preamp will need a LOT of clean gain to make this work effectively. I ended up selling mine because my pre-amp, which is decent quality (Focusrite TrakMaster Pro) just couldn't provide quite enough gain for this while it can for the SM58, for example.

Just as good as SM58
Intended use is for a smaller harmonica footprint than using a Shure SM58. Sound is equal to handheld SM58 but much more manageable in size. Attached a wireless transmitter and have the best of two methods. Much cheaper setup than the Shure wireless system

needs too much gain and picks up clothing noise
I loved all Shure products so far and thought this mic would be great for streaming, but the gain has to be turned up all the way to hear anything and it picks up every little piece of background noise, especially my clothing. I used medical tape to route the cable so it would barely touch, but it still is very noticable and the mic is indeed useless, bummer
