The return for our downstairs heat pump is in the floor. After years of use (and washing), it was definitely time to get a new filter. I measured the old one, and it was some odd size (31.5 x 22) that I'm pretty sure the contractor had fabricated to "ensure" future sales. A quick inspection of the return box revealed a 2.5" lip all around, so the effective opening was smaller. This K&N was the perfect fit (and no more prying to get it out for washing). I've used K&N filters for autos, so I know the quality is there!

When we moved into our home we were using throw-away filters - then we found one of these and tried it. They work amazingly! Easy to install and take out. We wash ours with the K&N Cleaner in the shower and then let it air dry for 24 hours. During that time we were still using the throw away - so we decided to purchase one more and I'm so glad we did! We are saving a ton of money and not creating more trash by owning two of these and rotating them out every 30 days! We store them in our laundry room upright and they fit in between our washer and dryer. Go buy them! You won't regret it - just don't forget to get the cleaner too!!

So you do have to mess with the size but I also know buying paper filters I was having to mess with the fit as well so I fully expected to have to make adjustments. My fix is I glued magnetic strips to the side and it works like a champ no noise little tough to get out so I glued a pull string to the top filter problem solved. We bought another so we can just rotate every 30 days as they say where not supposed to go any higher the merv 8 but 11 isn’t that much higher and if you don’t let it get super dirty it’s fine. You can beat the price. Yeah pricey at first but in the long run it pays for itself depending which brand you were buying in quick order. Plus you don’t have to throw away and unwrap every filter it’s awesome highly recommend buying.

This is a great product. Air vents keep going up in price and it's getting a little out of hand! What I like about this product is that it is really well made. It has a strong outer edge that is not flimsy and the screen it's self works great. I've had it in my house for about a month. Yesterday, was the first time I washed it. It had accumulated much more bust than the disposable filters. I only used the water hose and sprayed it through the clean side so the dust doesn't get caught. I did not use any other chemicals on this, JUST WATER. It cleaned up great, all the dust came out, & it dried it outside in the sun in about an hour. This is a great buy if you are trying to save so money!!!

I always use k&n filters in my vehicles and now to my surprise I find they make home filters as well. You can not beat the price for the quality of filter k&n offers. This filter is heavy and feels like quality. Cleaning k&n filters is a breeze with there cleaning solution of even just using a mild dish soap works as well. The value for the money cannot be beat as this filter pays for it self in 6 months. The sizing was a perfect fit, and offers top of the line performance to keep the familys air nice and fresh.I highly recommend and endorse all k&n products.

I use K&N filters for everything they make a filter for that I have a need for. But I bought one of these lifetime filters for the home HVAC in July of 2020, and it makes noise I can hear without my hearing aids after a recent cleaning. The air flow has become too restricted. I called K&N, and even though I purchased the filter from Amazon, they are sending a new one at no cost to me. That's excellent customer service for an excellent product!
