I bought one of these mixing bowl to use for mixing the lye solution for cold process soaping. It's nice and heavy, very sturdy and a great price. I've used this brand for many years and have had nothing but good experiences with their products.

I plan to use these for proofing/rising my dough. I love that they came with lids that seem fairly airtight. They’re sturdy. Amazon shipped them without padding and they arrived in perfect condition, which says something about how well they’re made. They’re 2 quarts, which is exactly what you want for 4 cups of flour recipes. Rising your dough in glass (for challah) is one of the preferred materials. They’re versatile. I can use these for measuring out other liquids when cooking and baking. The glass is stable and can be used in the heat. They fit my needs perfectly and should for most bakers because of what recipes call for… they make baking so much easier. I love the stability of Anchor Hocking glass. There isn’t anything that holds up as well. I worried about the heaviness of them, but they’re not too heavy. The handle is so comfortable. I have measuring glasses from another popular company, so these are my first by Anchor Hocking and they’re much more comfortable. I also like that the numbers are embossed on the glass, instead of printed in red. It seems easier to read, which is not what I’d expect. They fit in my fridge so much easier than my metal mixing bowls. I love the bowl! I’ve only used it once so far, but it is sturdy and I expect no problem in the future, with the bowl…The lid, however, is an entirely different story. It does indeed snap over the top of the bowl, but it doesn’t fit completely onto the top of the bowl. I unfortunately found this out when I put bread cubes into it with cinnamon and sugar, snapped the lid on, and turned it upside down to coat the bread with cinnamon and sugar… and proceeded to see the floor coated too. The lid stayed on, but it did not hold the cinnamon and sugar inside. I’m only glad it was that and not the eggs I needed to add after. A bit disappointed with that.5 stars for the bowl, 2 for the lid, but being generous with 4 overall.

This batter bowl is really heavy, thick glass. I love it! The measurements are molded into the glass, so no lead paint to worry about! I hope they make a 2 Cup one like this at some point, as well. This will be a great help in the kitchen and anyplace I need a big liquid measuring utensil.
