Q: Will this fit the hose on the shop vac ss11-450 5 gal? The hose end seems to be 1.25" dia.

I am not familiar with that shop vac, but I did have to buy a hose adapter to use this brush, i.e., reduces the big shop hose down to the home vacuum hose size.

Q: Mine came shrink-wrapped so tightly the bristles are collapsed into the airway. Any possible solutions? Starting to agree with the negative reviews.

I took scissors to my bristles. They were so long they collapsed inward when I turned on suction. Cutting them to a half inch made it usable.
