v256 is WORTH EVERY PENNY
First of all, I bought this pedal only seeing one demo, and it was a short stupid video on youtube. wasn't very helpful. However,This was the best decision I have made in a long time. I'm not one of those people who reviews on a product and tries to find every little problem possibe. normally, if you have a bunch of negative feedback it means you dont know how to use it to the fullest. I have bought so many pedals off of bad reviews and made them do excellent things and people ask me how i did it... simple... I'm a musician not a critic.ANYWAYS.... this pedal is awesome, the reflux tune, vocoder and instrumental controls are out of this world. the sounds are even better than the cheesy effects that play on the radio. It is awesome that the reflux tune offers all major and minor keys in the chromatic scale. You can choose how robotic the switch is between the notes and also choose how deep the glissando is between the notes. this thing has a mighty punch for its size. the vocoder is the best i've heard in a very long time. you can plug in your guitar or keyboard or whatever and control what notes come out of your voice, its super bad. and it also comes with a talkbox effect that sounds better than the original. you'll be sounding like peter frampton withing seconds. the multi-band vocoder is so much better than the microkorg synth or any other synth on the market. BOTTOM line....IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GOOD VOCODER, AUTO TUNE (reflux tune)A TALK BOX AND INSTRUMENTAL CONTROL CAPABILITY, AND ALL IN ONE PEDAL THIS IS IT!!! stop wasting your time searching the net and just buy this thing.I found a bunch of cool settings for the different bands of the vocoder, so if you want some let me know

Stopped working, just like the other vocal effects processor.
Temperamental. Stopped working in less than a year for the guitar input. The other electro harmonics this replaced completely stopped working in less than a year. I put an inquiry to them through Amazon and no response. Will not be buying anything from them again. Stay away is my advice.

Harmonix Is In The Mix!
This is the coolest vocoder! It is built very well and does everything with your voice. From android robotic sounds to the incredible gender bender. This box is the one that rocks. It can make a star out of anyone who can halfway hold a note while singing. It is great for hooks and chorus. Plus it's just downright fun to operate. I've had mine almost a year now without any problems. Compact design and very simple to use, which is a plus when you're deep into your workflow and don't have time to learn technical stuff involving the equipment. Grab this baby and I know you will be singing in the rain!

Interesting piece of equipment
I moistly got this to use in my effects chain for Sax and clarinet although I’ve tried it on vocals too and it’s very smooth and responsive. As a horn effector it has a wide range of subtle or way over the top effects, I’m still experimenting with all the possibilities. It does take some working with so don’t expect to take it out of the box and get the sound you’re looking for right off the bat but there are lots of wonderful potentials there if you work with it a bit and try a variety of setups. I wish the input mike signal had a real level control and not just a high/low switch, but that’s my only complaint

Decoding the Vocoder
Some of the negative reviews seem to come from misunderstandings as to what this item is, and how it works. This is not a vocal "processor" that you plug a mic into, sing into the mic, and hear the effect on your vocals; it is more like a voice "synthesizer", where your voice a sound signal that will be processed by the unit, but it requires simultaneous input from a keyboard (or guitar) to tell it what notes to output.I hold the philosophy that every piece of gear that effects the sound is a musical instrument. Every musical instrument has a learning curve, which means that you can only find out the true quality of an instrument when you've spent enough time to get control of it.That said...the V256 is a very worthwhile musical instrument! Make sure you take the time to know how each to set it up properly, and know what each knob does and how it effects the sound. Then you will be able to dial in some awesome musical sounds.Midi users...note that the V256 is set to receive on Channel 16, and this setting can not be changed.

Customer service nonexistent
This unit failed after only 3 months of occasional use. Tried calling the company only to get stuck in their phone system. Emailed customer service on several occasions and received no response. It's simply not worth dedicating any more time and energy dealing with this problem. This is the first product review I've ever written and I'm doing so to save others from this headache.
