12/2014 Update: After so long from release you would hope that they've finally fixed up everything. Far from it unfortunately even with the most recent software update 1-2 weeks ago. It made the graphics on PS3 slightly better, but huge delays and bugs all around for soldier and vehicle movements. You would see a soldier in front of you carrying the flag, the flag show up in front and the soldier figure to the right or left. Unbelievable. I love BF games and still suck it up to play it. Lesson learnt is that never pre-order games nor buy them at full price. I feel so cheated.[2/9/14 Update: Finally, hope & tips on minimizing MP game freeze and how to choose map in MP below. For all your soldier class upgrade, select back to the basic Defensive. I tried that last night and no game freeze for 5-6 games in a row. Hope it'll continue to work. If that's the case, really, that's what's been causing the game freezes? 2/11: Forget it. It still freezes from time to time. Most trash game ever made. 3/21: With latest patch, now it almost freezes every or every other game.][TOTAL SHAME on EA for launching such a defective game.]There are quite a bit of features in this game that are nice additions from BF3.The water level (Paracel Storm) and the waves created with this new game engine will blow your mind off.Levolution: Being able to take down a high rise building in Shanghai, destroy a dam to cause flooding? That's so cool!However, there are also some major issues and elements worse than BF3. The graphics are worse in Campaign and even worse in Multiplayer (MP). MP freezes your PS3 a lot!!! It's most frustrating when it happens towards the end of a game and when you're winning! This is simply unacceptable. I'll say more at the end as I was a beta test user.[Update: 1/31/14 I was hopeful that with an update today, it would finally fix the MP game freeze issue. Guess what? 3 times now, first game on Golmud Railway twice the game freezes right at the end when credits were about to show. Wow! Really? Tried Siege of Shanghai. Didn't freeze at the end but froze on transition to next map. Whatever they've done made this even worse. Wow!] {Chatted with EA Support B4 Christmas. They suggest turning off Media Server Connection. Go to Network Settings, Media Server Connection, Disable. Tried it last night and no MP game freeze so far. Had quite a few games again and only froze once. However, during Christmas holidays, it almost freezes every other game. I play Obliteration a lot. There was a time that even after anyone drops a bomb, nobody else can pick it up no matter how much you've tried.]Some maps are actually smaller in MP (especially if you're flying jets, most noticeably in Dawn Breaker flying the F35). The control buttons are messed up. [Update: Finally some maps in China Rising is big enough and feels more like BF, with enough vehicles at major flag points to travel around.]I don't buy the argument that since this game is designed for next gen consoles, it has to suffer the quality for PS3. Come on, this should at least have the same quality as it was in BF3 for PS3. Take "The Last of Us" and "Uncharted 2 & 3" as examples. Their attention to detail and photo realistic graphics are beyond match and they run on PS3! I think they dumb down PS3 version to "force" people to buy PS4 and that's wrong.More comparison to BF3 and I'll keep updating as I find out more:Likes:- [Update] China Rising map finally has Air Superiority map that is helicopter fight! I always thought that would be a good idea and now we can battle in Apaches!- Along with that above, the Silk Road map has such a well designed landscape going up and down that more teamwork is required to prevent enemies to bring bombs to destroy your objectives as you can't easily lock on a moving target.- Graphics (in Campaign): like what they advertise in the preview videos, noticeable smoother renderings of human facial expressions, and fine details that explosions can create a wave of wind energy that blows trees around.- Cool environment controls added: roadblocks, shop window blinds opening & closing, etc.- Test range: it is very nice to be able to try out different vehicles in a no pressure environment with fake targets to hone in your skills of each.- Elevators: it's so nice to be able to ride an elevator up to the roofs of many buildings instead of hopping on a helicopter to hopefully jump off and land on one! So be mindful of snipers!- Better sniping: speaking of snipers, the sniper guns have much better accuracy in this game. In BF3, it has such a parabolic gap that what you aim is not how you can kill someone. Honestly I didn't know how someone could be so good in BF3 being a sniper but this makes it easier for casual gamers.- Helicopters: as supposed to my dislike to the land vehicle control, the new way does make flying a helicopter easier than how it was in BF3. Still needs time to get used to but better.- M142 ground missile vehicle: now to fire the missiles, it gives you the radar map which makes it a lot easier to hit a target at the expense of not seeing what's happening in your immediate environment which makes you vulnerable. In BF3 it's hard to aim using a parabolic system.- Shorten award ribbons: now they just combine to tell you how many ribbons you get at the end of the game without ruining other stats. You can still find the detail but that won't ruin the time getting each scroll one at a time.- Conquest: I like the fact that a vehicle above a flag area (flag is underground) can still help gaining traction for winning the flag (can't in BF3 when it's multi-level).- New weapons (active radar/missiles, SRAW, LAW missile launcher, etc.) that make air/land vehicles not as invincible as they were in BF3 (some people like me who love vehicles may not like this but I put it here to make this more a balanced gameplay).- It's cool to be able to swim and dive when necessary. Also can equip hand gun for defense or offense.Dislikes:- Weapons reload: if you have not spent down the ammo on your clip and reload, you'll lose many bullets as your unused bullets are wasted. Probably realistic but makes it hard to adjust from old way of playing. [Seems like this is fixed now.]- Unable to pick map in multiplayer (this is pretty unacceptable as well) [Update: Finally, this is how you can do it: Server Browser, hit R3 to filter. There you can select different game modes, maps, etc. Very nice menu choices indeed. Then it'll sort it out a list for you. Now this is nice but so confusing to find. Strange thing is that when I type "China" in "Search," it comes up with all servers with no players. That's not the case in BF3.]- Unable to equip your solider/vehicle with the upgrades you want outside of gameplay (again at least I haven't found out a way)- Team rebalancing: COD does a way better job balancing teams in MP, even to the last second prior to game launch. BF4 is horrible, loaded teams with really high levels, and many times even have huge uneven # of players so obviously if you're on a team of small # of players, good luck.- Land vehicle control: they've changed the Default control so now you use left stick to move the vehicles forward, left, right, and backward. I personally prefer the old way as I can accurately and quickly move backward to the direction I want precisely. With this new control, it always messes up the backward movement especially in tight spots that you got stuck among columns and become a sitting duck for attack. I guess it's great for an average gamer who can use multiple buttons to control a vehicle well but certainly not for me.Alright, they do have a "Veteran" option to change the setting. However, in that setting, R1 Accelerate (vs R2) and L1 Brake instead of L2. What's more annoying is that Fire is now L2 with that mode.- Tank firing: Along with that, I don't like how they restrict the tank firing. It used to be unlimited and just the load time. Now (certainly more realistic) you have limited ammo, once it's over you have a long load time so you'll be a sitting duck again. In a way this makes tanks less powerful which I am sure some players would welcome it.- Jeeps: I just don't like to be the driver but have no control over any weapons. So if no one rides with me and man the weapons, I'm just a sitting duck.- Spot & team command: tap R2 to help spot enemies now vs. pressing Select. However, when pressing R2 it can bring up your team command menu that blocks your screen and that is very annoying.- Missing battle stats: I like the old way that shows the kill/death ratio, scores/minute, etc. but seems like it's gone now (or at least I'm still searching where to find it)- Designs on the dog tags are so small that you can't really see them! Why do they fix things that are broken and make them worse?- No more Capture the Flag: I love that game mode and the new Obliteration mode just isn't the same.- Still glitch for MP: in the beginning of many maps, if you drive a vehicle, you'll notice that the 1st few seconds had no sound, which makes it hard for you to know if you already did the "Boost" or not.- [Update] New 20 min time limit for Obliteration mode, kind of like Capture the Flag in BF3. I have mixed feelings about this. The good thing is that you know how long it'll last so you can plan activities around. On the other hand, especially for the Operation Locker level, if you have well balanced good players on each team, it's so cool to keep fighting for the bomb and is hard to reach the other side. Sometimes that could take close to an hour to finish all 3 bomb sites but that was so exciting. No more.[Update] Campaign: Finally I spent some time to play the campaign. When other people complaint that it's too short and about 5 hrs only, wow, it actually felt a lot less than 5 hours! It was very linear and short, didn't involve many levolutions, nor different vehicle battle (unlike the spectacular tank battle gameplay campaign in BF3). I don't agree that this game is just for MP. I always think that a good game (such as Uncharted 2) has a great mix of single player campaign for those who like it, and MP as well to be worth the $60. This story is short and somewhat lame too. For such short amount of campaign time, there's a level where you spend about half the time walking through the aircraft carrier. What for? Nothing meaningful in the walk either. What a waste of development work into that useless sequence. Pretty bad ending (or should I say not even a real ending) too. It even freezes during campaign gameplay too, really?And the game is easy to beat. Now you can press R2 to scout the area and enemies, then give command to your team to hit them. With that, you can even sometimes sit back and don't do much and most enemies killed. That's the Normal difficulty setting. Way too simplistic in my mind.What annoys me most is that I was a beta test gamer, and many of these glitches (game freeze, no sound for 1st few seconds) were there and I thought they would have fixed it for the launch, or at least quickly after the launch. What a total disappointment and let down that they are still there.After all, it's still a fun game, where you don't just run & gun and have a great choice of vehicle battle that no other game can deliver yet. But it definitely fell short of the quality even for BF3. No wonder others said this is more than BF 2 or 2.5. Saw the graphics on PS4 finally and they certainly look much much better (but no excuse for making PS3 version worse than BF3). Still keep the 4 star rating hoping they'll fix these issues and once it's done, it's still a great MP game, but I wouldn't pay $60 to buy their next game anymore. I also want them to know that even for the fans who love this game, we are totally frustrated by the game freeze issues in MP which is completely unacceptable.[Update 12/4] EA halted development of other games with its Swedish unit DICE until they fixed many of these issues. Glad to know that they do realize the game has many glitches. I agree with many gamers that this truly was not ready for release. For rushing it to market to beat the holiday season and COD release, I think it does more damage to the BF franchise, EA's reputation, lost sales and early discounts to entice more people to buy this faulty game. I hope management of EA does the math as it does destroy my faith and many others in buying their games anymore.[Update 1/5/2014] I got so frustrated with the frequent game freeze that I switched to playing COD Black Ops II and its multiplayer. The graphics are so much better than BF4's (again BF4 for PS3 is much worse than BF3 PS3). But the COD MP game gets old so quickly: you just run around and kill each other, no healing teammates, not getting credit when your teammate kills someone you damaged, no vehicles obviously, etc. Then I switch back to BF4 but if freezes so often that it's beyond ridiculous. Sigh. Hope EA fixes it someday sooner than later.]

Played Battlefield 3...had to order this one, just received it today. have not played it yet, but thought i would place a review. If anywhere near the 3 it will be great.But watching the trailers and how the programming and software was made and used in the game, Battlefield 4 will be a far better game in play and appearance than ANY other game on the market so far.Will see in the next few days, will come back when I can and update this reviewUpdate 11/17/2013Have been playing this game a little. I do not play online so can not comment on that avenue of this game. But in single player the graphics are great and the game play is intense. My issue is uncertainty of what to do where to go information. there is no ( unless i am missing it )good instructions, which can make it very frustrating at times.Attacking the tanks, sure get explosives and blow it up and then the second tank hounds your every move and gets you killed many times even through buildings, that's frustrating.Then the Sea Battle. After getting on the ship getting the intell and then being attacked, and obtain a rocket launcher to blow up Helicopters that when you shoot them it bounces off ? Some one yelling give me targets ? and then no helicopters show up and suddenly they are behind you dropped from a Heli you never saw ? get beyond that in an intense battle and being shot from a ship that you can do nothing about and no matter where you hide or what your behind it still shoots you ? That is frustrating to say the least.The weird thing was after getting on a boat to get back to your Ship, your being attacked by other boats and there you are going to that ship and it took forever...It for me was almost an hour, I am serious. And one time there a warning came up saying you lost power and the boat stopped and then i was blown up ? Finally after several tries and not being able to catch up to Ship, I set out to destroy every boat I saw and when they were gone I still could not catch up to the Ship...and they kept yelling about a Helicopter...I finally set out to get it and Finally after chasing after it and destroying it I was allowed to catch up to the Ship...absolutely horrible situation with No instructions , all it said was, "get to the Valkyrie", that was our Ship.....never said but first destroy a couple dozen boats and then a Heli then it will allow you to catch the Ship....???After that another scenario being on a boat to reach shore which i was blown up in the water a few times for some odd reason from an enemy I never saw? Finally after a few times got to shore and was in a battle got behind a tank that kept yelling about giving it targets when they were all around it ? Frustrating so often with no information.Finally i was in a tank, used it to destroy a few tanks and then there was no where to go....had to get out and run around still not knowing where to go...on an occasion an arrow would appear on a direction map, but it was not always there? Glitch maybe ? Who knows...anyway after that can get in enemy tanks but None of them have shells to fight other tanks...so here I am trying to get to an airport and attacked by multiple tanks and you can not destroy them .I had anti-tank rocket launchers that would not do anything. I shot at one that when it hit the tank it killed me...seriously. Not the tank my own rocket.Like a battle earlier you had to put bombs on it and hit a switch to blow it up, these are so close together you can't get behind any of them they actually follow your every move. And they kill you even on other sides of walls....there is no where to hide and nothing you can get behind for cover.Again very frustrating battle scenarios and horrible camera angles at times. The graphics are great, the game play and instructions are vague and frustrating the battles are intense. But as a gamer the frustration causes me to have to lay it aside before i can continue it...so it maybe some time before I go any further with this game.But this is a review from an old man who plays games on occasion, I am not a everyday, stay up for days player and I never play online so take this review with a grain of salt.But i have played video games since they were invented, so that should tell you i have played video games for a long time. The graphics on these games get better and better however so many times the design gets flat on the story line and the directions and leaves the gamer often just trying to figure out what to do and why, which leads to allot of frustration and makes these games fall short of what they could and should be.Great graphics ..yes....story line...falls short...and instructions fall flat....leaves one frustrated at times, and way more than they should be.I am not to far along in this game, will move along when I get over this frustration, and can play again. Sometimes that can take awhile, while I go to other games that are better and I move along in them more and less frustration....so when i can move on in this game I will update this review, until then...I am stuck with a frustration in this game.From some other reviews I see i am not the only one who has a few issues with the game.

4 days trying 2 load game dosnt work never again

The product works only for local play and single player campaign! Multiplayer and Online functions did not work at all after several attempts, even going as far as doing factory reset on the PS3 console. Other games work perfectly fine.
