HTML is not a four-letter word
I have been creating informal web pages for 14 years, but there was so much that I never understood. This book opened that window. Unlike the many books that just explain some basic mechanics of web pages, this book explains the details and how it all comes together. This book doesn't step you through building a basic web site, and maybe that is its strength. Instead, it explains the bigger picture where HTML fits and explains the details of how HTML can be used for whatever you want to achieve. If you, as I, have read what seems to be an infinite number of HTML books, this book really turns the corner and presents a totally new view of the HTML world. Instead of showing you quickie tips, the book helps you develop a better grasp of the entire web page world. I did not find the book an 'easy read', but I frequently look to it for its insight. Money well spent.david kirk

Hi There,This is a great book for anyone who wants to leqarn HTML, CSS and how to make your own website.I also have the previous book by Guy Hart-Davis ( liked it ) and this one includes more up-to-dqte material reflecting the changes and improvements to HTML and CSS.The book had a very good price, arrived on time in excellent ( new ) condition.I can recommend Amazon and the author.Albert Whitmire

All over the map
I guess I should learn to be wary of 5 star reviews.I was hoping to brush up on basic HTML and CSS and bonus, some XHTML was thrown in, too.If you are looking for structured overview of HTML, etc., this book is not it. It goes all over the map, from how to access a web page (type in url, press enter) to getting a domain name to font codes! Font codes have been deprecated for over ten years and are not considered good HTML. You would use a style sheet for this.Unfocused, sometimes flat-out wrong, and a disappointment.
