I've been baking bread in this beast for almost a month now, and it's been a real game changer for me. I used to cook my bread in a six quart round cast iron Dutch Oven, and although the bread always came out perfect, the large round loaves were cumbersome and didn't make for uniform sandwich or toaster slices. In this one, the bread conforms to the shape of the pan, and I end up with perfect loaves each and every time using a 3 cup recipe. It's very sturdy (read: heavy) the lid fits perfectly, and the decorative touches elevate it a notch above the offerings from companies like Lodge. Don't get me wrong; I love Lodge cast iron cooking vessels, but they don't make anything this size with a lid. And companies that do are asking roughly twice as much for their products. You'll wait a bit longer for delivery than you do with your typical Amazon order, but it's well worth the wait.

I bought this to make sourdough sandwich loafs. It is very high quality! As a personal preference, I wish the sides weren’t as angled. It produces a small bread slice. However, I will also use this pan for meatloaf, etc. It was very difficult finding a cast iron loaf pan that could be used for bread. Again, it’s not quite the correct shape for my liking, but that’s personal preference. I did have to re-season upon the product’s arrival. I also wish the lid grip was larger and/or came with a hook to take the lid off. It’s really quite small and hard to grip when hot.

Use it for sourdough bread once s week, but to narrow for my taste. Prefer Emile Henry loaf baker. Still very sturdy, easy to clean and probably great for cooking or other kinds of bread. Bread baked with a lid on just is better.

I use this pan for baking bread and it does a great job. Bread pops out easily and it's a good size. At $62 dollars it seems pricey but since I'm not buying bread at the grocery store it has easily paid for itself

Ich habe die Form in erster Linie fürs Brotbacken gekauft – und sie ist seitdem im Dauereinsatz. Das Gusseisen verteilt die Hitze gleichmäßig, sodass das Brot außen schön knusprig wird und innen wunderbar fluffig bleibt. Der Deckel sorgt dafür, dass der Teig perfekt aufgeht, und das Beste: Er lässt sich auch separat als Pfanne nutzen. Die Reinigung ist simpel – meistens reicht Auswischen, ab und zu etwas Öl, und schon ist sie wieder einsatzbereit. Klar, die Form ist schwer, aber das gehört bei Gusseisen einfach dazu. Für mich ist sie inzwischen unverzichtbar geworden, und ich kann sie jedem empfehlen, der ernsthaft Brot backen will.
