YAKIMA - SKS Lock Cores for Yakima Car Rack System Components

I bought these to better secure my adjustable Mopar crossbars on my Jeep JL Wrangler. This is a direct replacement for the plastic flathead cores, and the install literally took 5 minutes for all four covers. I mostly wanted some added security for the rack and my solar panel mounted to it. This won’t stop a prepared thief, but it is more than enough for my situation. The extra keys are a huge plus, I put them on my keychain, my wife’s keychain and also kept one in our safe at home after installing. Really glad WranglerForums posts let people know these work for the OEM racks.

Super great price. Easy to install and a must have to secure your items. Bought this for my rooftop cargo basket. While I think for the price of the basket these should be standard, these were priced at a fraction of what some others retailers are charging. Highly recommend.

Bought two sets, one for me and one for a friend.What I liked:1. Price. About 20% of price of Yakima core locks on competing websites.2. They work. They keep you from being able to turn the handle to loosen the brackets.What I Didn’t Like:1. Poor quality control. One set came with the cores and keys having the same number: A-141. The other, the cores and keys were mismatched: cores were A-144, keys A-143. I wasted a lot of time until I realized this. Inexcusable in my opinion.2. Really bad instructions and videos were also poor. So, I will explain how to install them.Installation:1. First pop out the plastic core. I used a slotted screwdriver. The first one is always hard because you aes clueless, but the rest were easy.2. Insert the blank key (no teeth) into one of the cores and use it to push the core lock into the bracket. The round slot will be at 9 o’clock. You don’t have to do anything.3. Tighten the bracket on your roof rack. When you are done, make sure the handle is horizontal. If it isn’t, you won’t be able to lock the core.4. Using the toothed key, lock the core by turning it to 12 o’clock. Repeat for the rest.

Bought a used, but like new set of Yakima ski racks for my Santa Fe. They did not have locks and keys. I ordered these and they arrived the next day, Super Easy to install. Great instructions and only took about 60 seconds to install. Works perfect at less than Half the Price of original Yakima locks and keys. Super happy.Don't look further, these are the real deal.

Very expensive for 2 little locks. They gave me some security with the kayak rack but a couple of times it was very difficult to get them to unlock. Overall, a good idea but the price point should be brought down.
