Developing Web Apps with Haskell and Yesod: Safety-Driven Web Development

Web developent without the unpleasantness
Coming from a hard core real time C++ programming background in the medical domain I have a strong dislike for web development. In my humble opinion, we really need to throw out the whole cobbled up "technology" out the window and start over. That said, the problem that web technology attempts to solve, however poorly, is a real one. Being able to write GUI code that is platform independent that does not depend on a bunch of libraries is incredibly useful. Until something better is adopted Yesod hides the developer from much of the unpleasantness. Haskell is a beautiful language with a very strong and powerful type system. I appreciate Michael Snoyman's efforts to improve the situation. This book, written by the author of Yesod, was exactly what I needed to jump in. This book is not a technical white paper as the rating of one star indicates, but the reader will feel more confortable if they have some grasp of the Haskell languge. The intention of this book is not to teach the reader. Haskell. Which is an unreasonable expectation. The first few chapters of Real World Haskell is an excellent introduction, among many other books. The effort involved in learning Haskell is well worth it.

Working papers not a book
I think it's not a book at all. These are working papers published as a book. Impossible to read.

The free version of all of the content of this book is avaible online on their own website. But this is like the official documentation for all the trics and ways to go about things with yesod. I loved it.
