Works great and easy to use.
We had to experiment with making the dough. The corn Maseca worked well just have to let is dry enough to be firm and not sticky. We purchased the 10 inch to have the ability to make larger tortillas. It is simple and easy to work. It is heavy duty and well built unit. You can squish the dough back and forth as you press down on the handle. Open the lid and peel the top wax paper round off and let the tortillas sit and dry while cooking your one in the pan. When ready for the next one...hold the tortillas in your hand and then peel the last wax round off and drop in the pan. We used a little spray Avocado Oil and must use an iron skillet to cook. They taste great and fun to make!

Works wonderfully
We made homemade sour dough tortillas yesterday. They were so easy to make on our new tortilla press.

3 years later: still going strong
No idea how people are breaking this thing. It's a heavy behemoth.Only thing I can figure is people going ape on it and pushing down too hard for too long. It's a press... trust me; let the weight do the work. The handle is there for uniform spread, not to support your weight as you push down with all your might!I have been wary of the handle and always press down while seated with an open hand. Still feels solid.Maybe people have it on an unstable surface or slam down the lid instead of closing the lid? This isn't an industrial hydraulic press, and it doesn't take much to flatten raw masa. Will update later if somehow there are issues, but so far for years, this has held up great. My only concern continues to be the bolts held in with wing nuts. I always carefully inspect them before I start and they always seem to be fine. If somehow they start to wear out, I plan to replace with similar hardened bolts, but use lock nuts instead.

Bought this to make hamburger patties for the freezer...works great!
Easy to use to press out hamburger patty. We prep two pieces of wax paper with light coat of cooking spray. Weighed ball of ground burger meat to “sandwich” between the wax paper with the coated sides of the wax paper.Press is so solid and evenly weighted that when you close the top onto the ball of meat, it takes almost no effort to gently press the patty shape.CAUTION: Press gently understanding that as this is a “hinged” press, the initial press for the patty will have a low side (hinge point does this) and the high side will need to cause one to spin the first pressed result 180 degrees. Then press the thick side down to match the first result. We were able to create a variety of thickness and diameters after just a few attempts. The use of the cooking spray allows for easy distribution of the meat and removal of the patty. The wax paper creates a barrier to save contaminating the press making clean up simple.Biggest problem for us is: Why didn’t we get one of these years ago?”

Great quality
This was a gift for my daughter. She opened it and within an hour was making tortillas, flour and corn. My waistline my regret this purchase!

Tortilla press
It only presses the tortilla to about 8 inches not ten , adding more mixture just makes the tortilla thicker. I used a rolling pin to finish the tortilla to ten

Love this product. No electricity, Easy upkeep, three parts only, it could last a hundred year!
This is my second Star Blue product, I just decided that I wanted a larger unit, my old one is only 6 inches, not large enough to do flour tortillas which are normally larger. Here's hint for seasoning them in your oven, remove the two wing nuts and screws holding together along with the handle, the only items you need to season are the two flat plates (on the contact side), this makes it so much easer to handle in the oven otherwise the unit will not lie flat. I had over night delivery (free) and item was packed beautifully.

I think product will work good.
Product looks good. Bolt holding the handle had stripped threads. Got the wing nut off and will purchase the bolt with wing nut. I hate sending products.
