Works perfectly for any mic the same size as the MXL 990. Its an all metal construction and it even comes with extra elastic. I use my mic in the upside down position, and it doesn't slip or fall out. It holds nice and tight. just a few reasons why I like this mount. first, its not as bulky or heavy as some mounts I have seen, and it is universal for mics the same size as the 990. It is also rather inexpensive. 5 stars from me, and money well spent!

Durable for many years
I have used this shock mount for my condenser microphone when I record for about 4 years now. It is a quality piece of hardware that lasts for a long time. It is easy to install and easy to adjust, and it holds the microphone securely and does it's job. There is only one minor problem: You have to tighten it higher than you want it because when you put the mic in the assembly will fall slightly. But that is a minor complaint for a low-cost shock mount. Recommended for project studios on a budget.

Good product for the money, low-cost but effective
Basically this is an economy product so I review it as such. No frills, just does the job. It doesn't look expensive, because it isn't. Not that it looks cheap either, but it's nothing fancy.As far as function, it performs flawlessly, it fits the MXL-90 perfectly and holds the microphone securely. I assume that the vibration damping is typical of the breed.I'd have preferred that the handles which are used to spread the mic clamp to stick out in a different direction, but that's just a cosmetic issue really.3.5 if I'm being really picky, but I gave it 4.

Perfectly fits all MXL 990 models.
I've gotten a couple of these at this point (the first one was broken by me, my fault, not the mount's) and they're great! Solid quality, and, color matches to the MXL 990. Will not work for MXL 990 XL.

Does Not Fit MXL 990 / Identical to the MXL 57
Previously bought the MXL 57 Shock Mount for my MXL 990 because I thought a review stated that my MXL 990 mic would fit. It didn't and I accepted that it was my fault.However, this shock mount specifically states it is for the MXL 990, so I bought it. Well, it does not. Funnily enough, it is identical to the MXL 57 shock mount in all ways but one: the color. The MXL 57 is black-ish, whereas this is silver-ish (the same silver-ish color as the MXL 990). Besides that, it is the same mount.Oh, there is one other difference: the price. This mount is around $16 - $17 more.So, for those looking for a shock mount for your MXL 990:Don't buy this shock mount or the MXL 57 shock mount for your MXL 990.

I use mine for an MXL large diaphragm condenser. Well worth the money.

Get this one
Fit perfectly on my Mic, works great with standard mic stands, reduces shock and is a snug fit. Perfect replacement.BEWARE, I BROKE THE ORIGINAL BY OVER TIGHTENING. RESIST THE URGE TO OVER TIGHTEN THE ANGLE WINGNUT, SET IT ONCE AND DON'T MESS WITH IT, IT WILL BREAK.Otherwise a great item!
