Helped my neighbor a lot, he was really needing it for the pc

I’m an animator and use a lot of drive space and I move data everywhere including across my Intranet to bigger NAS drives. I use 20+ different programs between Mac and PC so this drive was perfect. This has become my PORTABLE working drive for my Macbook. I partitioned it with a 25% PC and a 75% MAC partition (the Mac can do this) so I can run Native Mac apps with it, but also transfer files To and From my PC. The Mac can use both partitions and the PC only sees the PC partition. Its fast and I’ve off loaded a lot of data from my Macbook freeing up space and I have all of my PC files at my fingertips with tons of free space left over.

This is a very good and sturdy external drive. I like having the color on it as well, makes it much easier to find. Only slight problem was formatting. Not as easy to format as other hard drives at least for my MacBook Pro. I can only access this hard drive through Time Machine, While my other hard drives are accessible in several different ways. Better instructions would’ve been helpful.

This 2 TB drive works. It is rugged and small enough that it is easy to carry and work with on Airplanes, even the small economy tray tables. I would recommend this to laptop users who travel. It does hook up with a USB C connector

It is a hard drive not an SSD so I knew it would be heavier. The case is really nice. Very thick rubber all the way around and aluminum case. The rubber plug to keep dirt and water out od the port seems to seal well. I have not dropped it drowned it, or run over it with my truck so I can't say if it does all it advertises, but appears that it would be close. Great price for 5Tb. I got it on sale, seem reasonably fast on my USB-C port. I really like this one as I have killed cases on previous HDDs and had to put them in new cases.

For the last two years this drive has been on my desk taking back ups of my computer. The externals look brand new like it was just taken out of the box. After not using it for a period of time, I took off the rubber bumper to check the size of the drive. When I took the bumper off the plastic plate that holds the hard drive to the metal enclosure fell off. The plastic bracket that holds the drive in its case snapped on both sides which caused the plate to fall off and the actual drive to be exposed. Knowing that the drive is still under warranty, I contacted customer support and made the subject of the ticket “Armor Housing Broke”. After providing pictures and info about the issue, customer service approved my replacement. They specifically asked for the “bare drive” and no accessories to be shipped to them. Being that the drive is exposed from the case, I took the drive out of the exterior metal case to ship the “bare drive” as they asked. Before shipping out the bare drive, I emailed back and asked what I would be getting in return; thinking that if they just send me a new drive, I will still have the same issue because the enclosure is the part of the product that is broken and so a new bare drive will not fix the issue. They then asked for more pictures, which I provided, and they responded that they do not cover external damage to the drive and because the internal drive was exposed from the shell, they can no longer honor the warranty. They continued to explain that they didn’t realize there was “external damage” to the drive which is not covered under warranty. And again because the drive was removed from the metal shell the warranty is voided. However the only reason the drive was ever removed from the shell was because they asked for the “bare drive”. Emails have gone back and forth now for almost a week. Any other company I’ve dealt with in recent history has not given me this much trouble over a product replacement that is still under warranty. Not to mention a warranty replacement that was approved and then retracted because they finally understood the problem; even though the subject of the ticket clearly explained the problem. I’m now currently stuck with a drive that even customer support considers “unreliable“. I don’t feel comfortable using this drive for what it was intended for because of the issue. While I originally liked the product, customer support is horrible to deal with and the warranty is useless.

Hard drive storage back up. I've purchased two and will now purchase a third one, so yes I recommend this product. Of course like all portable drives, this one comes with what I consider "crap ware". Like all other drives I've purchased in the past, I delete everything that comes pre-loaded on the drive before I use it. Highly recommend everyone do the same. Do you really want your personal and work files automatically uploaded to the cloud??? I also highly recommend you do not use their "encryption" software, all mass produced drives with encryption software have backdoor keys at the factory, use Truecrypt, no backdoors.

Replaced my older external HDD that required external power (WD MyBook 1TB) with this portable 4TB drive. Though it is technically ready for Mac (because unlike Windows, Mac can read both formats) I did go ahead and format to APFS because this drive will be used exclusively with Mac(s) to stream my personal media files. MUCH faster than my previous drive and I feel pretty confident about the rugged build, while not spending high SSD prices. Great value for the 4TB capacity.

Great build. Perfect for travel

I've had a WD hard drive that has been around with me for 3/4 years. Out of a sudden while working on the laptop for a few days straight, suddenly I noticed it stopped being recognized & tried to take it to a data recovery company, but no luck. That's when I got this hard drive. So far it hasn't crashed, or suddenly ejected. It is being recognized & has been working fine so far. If there are any changes, I will update. The rugged-ness & sturdiness of the hard drive is also really good.

Franchement rien a dire pour ce disque dur. il marche vraiment bien capacité de 5To. vitesse assez rapide. Mais surtout vraiment incassable. Je l'ai jeté volontairement au sol, assez violemment, et effectivement il est costaud. Il est juste un peu grand mais franchement ca passe tous de même dans une pochette ordi, tranquille donc pas de problème pour ma part. Je recommande de vive voix !!!!
