Amazing. This has been fun finding things in the yard with my kids. It takes a 9 volt battery. Very easy to adjust. My husband has a metal detector and now my son can use his along with papa. Lots of fun for the whole family. My kids have no problem using this because it's very light weight and simple to use. For the price this is a great starter product. We will be taking many trips to the great lakes to see what we find. Also plan on taking many more local trips to our parks to see what we find. Our family is ready for lots of treasure hunts in store. This has been a nice addition to make family time more fun and interesting.

My son used his visa gift card he got for Christmas to buy this. After taxes it came to roughly $50, give or take, and he was so excited. It came in today and the pieces don't even fit on it to hold it together!! I can't seem to find contact info (of course) to even address this issue. I'm not going to give up getting his money back. I feel so bad, he was so excited. 😔 Shame on this company as I see we are not the only ones having this issue.

I CAN'T SAY THIS THING WORKS GREAT OR IF IT'S JUST A GIMMICK. THERE IS A SETTING THAT YOU HAVE TO TURN IT TO BECAUSE IF IT IS TOO HIGH IT JUST BEEPS LIKE EVERYTHING IN THE ROOM IS METAL LOL. SO TURN THE DIAL ABOUT HALF WAY TO GET IT TO STOP BEEPING BUT TO WHERE IT WILL BEEP WHEN IT COMES NEAR METAL. THE DESIGN IS HORRIBLE BUT I GET IT, IT'S FOR CHILDREN SO NOTHING TO EXPENSIVE. TO PUT IT TOGETHER WAS A TASK IN ITSELF, IT ACTUALLY TOOK MY BROTHER-IN LAW AND ME TO GET IT. MAYBE IT'S JUST US THOUGH. MY SON LIKES IT SO I CAN'T KNOCK IT, AND IT ACTUALLY DOES BEEP AROUND METAL, SO I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THAT IT DOES WORK.

We had ordered this item and it was not working properly so we returned it and gave it poor feedback. After seeing the feed back the company actually contacted me and sent me out another one. I am happy to say that the new one we got works great. My son loves it and he has already found some treasures in the yard with it. This company gave great service, and I would ne happy to purchase other products they carry.

My tomboy 10-year-old niece asked for this for Christmas while we were scouring Amazon to find her something she might like. She went nuts when she saw this, as she thinks she's going to find buried treasure in her yard with it or something. Since it was just $30, I figured it wouldn't be made very well, but it's actually quite nice, and she was thrilled with it Christmas Day. Couldn't wait to tear into it and see what it looked like. It seems fairly simple to operate, but it's winter, so her treasure hunting might have to wait a few months. I'll update once she finds a few nails in the dirt...or rather IF she finds some nails in the dirt. I'll report back with just how effective it is in finding *anything.* But so far, so good.

Such a let down and I don't know if we are doing something wrong?? It detects metal outside like the basketball hoop base, the mailbox, the trampoline. However, when I put any coins on top of the grass (and I have tried pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters) it doesn't go off! I don't even bury them in the ground, I place them gently on top of the grass so you can see them if you look closely! I even hid a metal nut underneath the coins to give them an extra metal boost, and they still won't go off. If I put the metal detector near 50 pennies it will go off, but I am not putting 50 pennies in a pile on top of the grass, that is hardly any treasure searching with a metal detector when all they have to do is look for a mound of pennies. If someone can guide me as to how to get this to work better, please let me know!

This metal detector comes with a neat cardboard and DIY characteristic makes it more interesting.All the parts are separated to be assembled by you or children themselves. This is the first time my son tried to do it by himself to create his toy. It takes time to assemble the detector, but not very long. The pieces are more portable to take along with your trips. Collapses down to help make it easier to adjust the length.Truely not sure who is enjoying this more, the kids or us as parents. It alerts you so you know when you have found something. Very good quality for the price and great for family time for sure.

Bought this for my 12 year old son. Much better well made than I thought from the pictures. Works better than the other toy metal detector, but if I had it to do over, I would spend a little more money. All in all, I guess it is a good value since it does actually work, hasn't broken yet, and was pretty inexpensive. Electric torch is the cheapest thing I have ever seen. He has found a million nails and other metal objects, our pasture and yard now look like a mine field unfortunately...........
