Great lamp for independent lighting. Sturdy.
When I first saw someone use a lamp for independent use -- the day/night bulb mixture -- I felt I should get one eventually since I liked that, but only ever used a small (single bulb lamp) for evenings. With the days getting shorter now, I finally searched and found this one. Took a while, but I finally chose this for a few reasons:- The darker color is very preferable to me compared to the common, shiny silver/gold ones I kept seeing frequently. I didn't want something that bright. I feel this lamp was somewhat buried under search results because of that.- The obvious independent lighting option for two different lights for night/day use.- Good desk lamp size at 30".The overall style and construction of the lamp is good. The only issue I had was screwing in the top portion that holds the shade. It may have just been the piece I got, but it had paint over the part that would screw in to the upper part of the base. This would basically cause the paint to come off as I'd screw it in, jam things up, and I'd have to unscrew, redo a bit more than before, then do that again. Took maybe 5 tries like that before it was good enough to go down to the base all the way. Not an issue now. It's very sturdy (including the base as well). The actual lighting is great with the lamp shade. I realized quickly though that the LED bulb in my smaller lamp that I first used (rated at 480 lumens) appeared much too dim with the new shade after I had also moved the lamps location. Instead, I bought a warm LED bulb rated at 1100 lumens, and it was perfect! I can use the smaller bulb elsewhere.A random plus is the "feel" of the chains when turning either bulb on/off. When it does the initial "click", it's very smooth both when pulling down and letting go of the chain.Lots of packaging. It may temporarily snow styrofoam bits in your room. ;) The bottom has a separate cardboard piece taped on that needs to first be removed BEFORE the base can be taken out of the styrofoam (to avoid a mess). It is best to lift it all out instead of thinking the base will just pop right out of the styrofoam with the cable on there.Works great overall. For those who want independent lighting, its color for darker accessories, but also want to avoid a tall floor lamp like myself, I recommend this as an option.

and the most sturdy of the 3 once it was assembled
I moved into my new apartment 2 month ago. The only ceiling lights are in the kitchen and bathrooms. I bought 2 led lights, one of which left me with "floaties" in my right eye because the lumens rating was as bright as they come. I bought this lamp to replace the one that caused my right eye damage. Of the 3 standing lamps I've bought since moving in, this one was the easiest and quickest to assemble, and the most sturdy of the 3 once it was assembled. I have poor night vision, so this lamp that can take up to 2 regular 100 watt light bulbs is excellent. It is very stylish. I especially like the crisp white linen look of the lamp shade that allows maximum lighting of my living room. I would buy this lamp again if I decide I need another lamp in any of my bedrooms.

Attractive, functional room light
I bought two Spyglass floor lamps and a table lamp for my moderately-sized home office and living room. I was surprised at how difficult it was to find functional lamps locally. Most of the lamps I saw in stores were just accent or reading lights, accepting only a single, low-wattage bulb. So I was very pleased to find the Spyglass lamps. It met my criteria of accepting two bulbs of at least 75-watts and using a standard-fit lamp shade. The lamps came with easy-to-follow directions and assembly is fairly easy for one person, though it does require a bit of patience to screw the pole together since the threads are a little rough. But once it's assembled the lamp is sturdy and stands straight, even on my padded carpet floor. Allow yourself plenty of assembly room, though, as the carton contains a lot of packing material. Also, the styrofoam is very flakey, so plan on giving the floor a good vacuuming after you finish. One thing not mentioned in the instructions is that the light sockets are sent in the flat position for their protection during shipping. Once the lamp is assembled they need to be pushed upward so the light bulbs are positioned near the center of the lamp shade. (Needless to say, this is done with the lamp unplugged.) If this isn't done the bulbs will be at the bottom of the lamp shade and the light will be harsher and less diffused. Also, when you're seated, the bulbs will be visible and glaring into your eyes.I like the traditional design of the lamp, which goes well with my craftsman-style and other wood furniture. The "bronze" color of the lamp is a dark brown. I installed a pair of Cree 100-watt equivalent daylight-balanced LED light bulbs (5000K, 18-watts, 1600 lumens) in each lamp. The floor and table lamp are enough to light the area around the couch and chairs in my living room for conversation, and reading if sitting next to a lamp.

Make sure you aren’t stripping the threads, while you screw them together!
First, I bought only 1 because of reviews. It went together perfectly, is heavy weight, durable, and beautiful. There are 2 chains for 2 bulbs, they glide like butter. So, I bought a 2nd one. Same great review. These are 30 inches tall and match my decor. I love them!P.S. I used to have a husband who would blame things, like his own ineptitude, on “shoddy machine work”. I watched him strip screws and threaded pipes, as well as use a high powered drill, when a project warned to use hand driver only, and still he blamed someone else (he would never read directions). THESE ARE REALLY NICE LAMPS, AND THE PRICE IS GREAT.It’s now 1/29/21 and I still love these lamps.
