Design for Electrical and Computer Engineers

Good reference for senior year engineering projects
With its brief but insightful coverage of the various stages of the design process (including requirement analysis, system design and relevant project management skills), this book eases the transition from studying to the real world of engineering. While the examples given are more relevant to electrical enginnering, the concepts laid out are sufficiently generalised to be useful to anyone. Every engineering student should read a book like this; I wish I had during my undergrad days.

Still very useful
Although published in 2002, this book is still reasonably in style for today. Manuscript is very readable and is excellent for a senior design capstone course. Goes through the steps of engineering design in a short discourse, thin paperback, format. Has several case studies as examples, including one extensive example in appendix. Has mostly EE examples, but CpE ideas are mentioned and the extensive example uses DSP. The date of the book does not allow address current software/embedded systems design techniques. Not much discussion on patents or ethics, either. Problem solutions and lecture diagrams available to instructors on Wiley website is a big plus. Still very useful in my opinion.
