Boys Love It
I bought this for a 10-year-old boy for Easter. His first comment was 'So cheap'- which in Alaskan terms means it's a bad gift. With that being said, he hurriedly pulled it from the package and experimented with it. His 'cheap' toy seemed to be a lot of fun. There are two settings- slow and fast (making the voice seem lower and higher). It's very easy to use and for any child that can read the directions it's self explanitory. I'd recommend it for kids ages 7 to 11. It records a short message (about 20 seconds in length) and then plays the voice back. You can alter the voice by sliding the 'mixer' up and down to make it lower or higher. Very simple, very easy to use.He really seemed to enjoy his gift and spent a lot of time trying to make 'ghost haunting' recordings. It came with batteries so it was ready to use right out of the package. It's small, handheald, and plastic- but it seemed fairly durable. He dropped it a few times, but it worked flawlessly even so. I know he would never admit that the Easter Bunny did a good job- but he really doesn't have to. It's kind of obvious, haha! I'd highly recommend this for any mischevious young boy. It's sure to give them hours of fun for a super affordable price!

Spy Stuff: great for an imaginative 7 year old
I bought the voice changer and the night vision glasses for my 7 year old nephew. According to my mom, the next day he wouldn't take off the glasses and absolutely loved the voice scrambler. Grandma and Grandpa used the spy book that I also bought through Amazon and they gave him secret codes to hunt for with his dad. My nephew has a huge imagination and isn't inclined to play video games like his friends - he loves anything scientific as well. If the kids you are buying for like to use their imagination, rather than have entertainment fed to them, these are great gifts. Voice ScramblerWild Planet Spy Gear Night Goggles

Broken on arrival
This was one of my son's Christmas presents. It wouldn't work when we opened it, but would repeat our words in a garbled tone. I thought it was the batteries, so we went out and purchased three more. The new batteries didn't fix it. Since I didn't think it was worth sending back, I opened it up and discovered that the wires going from the battery to the circuit board were damaged. I soldered new wires on, and it works now. It does change your voice, but isn't a great toy. He, nor his two brothers, used it very much. I tried playing around with it to get them interested in it, but to no avail. It does work, however, after replacing the defective wires.

its ok
I already knew buying this by the price, that most likely it wouldn't work that great... So no surprise it doesn't really change your voice too much, but I got 2 of them for gifts for my nephews age 9 and 12. I also gave them the spygear night vision binocular things with these. They had fun with them, so they are ok but not like amazing quality or anything but they're for kids and kids lose and break these things so no big deal!!

Not really a scrambler
This is not a scrambler. It is, as many reviews state, a device that will speed up or slow down your voice, making it sound different depending on how you have it set when you record, and how you have it set when you select playback. It's a cute little device, and my kids like it, so I guess that's really all that matters. If you're looking for something with any sort of advanced voice scrambling, look elsewhere.

I'll get a computer to do that for me to do it all kinds of better, thanks $25 gift card for folly
and here I thught it was a live kind of thing, not a 10-second kind of thing. battery sucking? I'll get a computer to do that for me to do it all kinds of better, thanks $25 gift card for folly. a little fun, for free to me, assuredly, but I wouldn't want to use real money toward it. perhaps for fart noises if I were 12 it would be great!

It's ok
It plays back what you say, sort of. It's muffled and you can tell you get what you pay for. Nonetheless my son is having fun w/ it so it serves it purpose. I guess I was anticipating it to play it back in a more articulate, changed voice rather than mumbled.

Interested but not a voice scrambler
We thought this would actually scramble the message, kind of like morse code. It mainly takes the original recording, speeds it up or slows it down, makes the pitch higher or lower. After we got over that, it was kind of fun.
