Great low cost transmitter
I haven't bought a new transmitter in 30 years and was surprised by the quality and number of features for so little money. It's by far the smoothest radio I've ever owned which makes precision aerobatics easier. It has more programming features than I can use. I use servo reversing, end point adjustment and a little exponential which allows smooth flying with my squadron of 400 mm t-28 Trojans. It's vastly superior to the radios that originally came with the airplanes. Battery life is good with the NIMH rechargeables I'm currently using. Works great with the FS2A 4ch receivers.

Great surface stick transmitter
I have quite a few R/C vehicles - mostly surface vehicles. When I first started into the hobby, I used a basic Futaba Attack 2 stick AM radio. As time has gone on, I have migrated over to pistol style radios and continued that with the jump to 2.4 GHz radios. As part of that, I have several FlySky pistol style transmitters and wanted to get a stick radio for nostalgia. After discovering this transmitter supports both their older AFHDS and newer AFHDS 2A protocols, I thought I would give it a try.The transmitter is pretty straightforward. Depending on setup you receive, you may want swap the sticks. This is pretty easy to do - it disassembles/reassembles pretty quickly with the appropriate screwdriver. The transmitter is comfortable enough for me. The menus are pretty straightforward - just know that to save settings you have to press and hold cancel. Battery life is OK - I use rechargeable AAs. I would like a dedicated charge port (which this does not have). Both protocols work fine and can be toggled from the menu. The value is outstanding - lots of function for the money. The functionality is good - minor gripe is the actual response feel. I end up dialing down some of steering expo to get a little bit more linear feel.

Big Bang for the Buck
This transmitter gives you a number of advanced features for a very reasonable price. I use it in my rc sailboat. All the channels have end point setting and trim capability, and the unit displays the voltage at both the transmitter and the receiver, very helpful to know how your battery is doing when the boat is way out there.Transmitter is a manageable size to hold, no antenna to break off. I have owned fully customizable tx's as well as basic transmitters and for the money this one is hard to beat.Go online to download the user guide, nothing suitable is provided with your purchase. Mine came with a 6 channel receiver, bound at the factory. Worked a treat! Rx size is not as small as some out there, but should work in most situations unless you are flying a discus launch glider with a small nose to fit things into. End pins would be better for those conditions. (The pins on the rx are at 90 degrees to the rx body.)Perfect for my use.

This is the perfect starter radio in my opinion
This is the perfect starter radio in my opinion. 6 channels is just enough, 10 models is an ample amount of storage space for a beginner, and I have to say the FlySky computer system is unmatched. The features you get for the price, and the wonderfully simple to use GUI is amazing. With this radio I have flown/drove the following;Custom 3D aerobatic Mark IV SpitfireCustom foamie polyhedral motor gliderHobbyking Quanum Nova 350 class quadcopter (highly recommend for open source quad lovers)Custom high torque full rotation servo FPV roverWLToys V912 Helicopter (highly recommend for heli beginners)Custom 330 class quadcopter550 class tricopterSo, I think you get it, the radio is very versatile.Pros:Great for the moneyUI that in my opinion outdoes SpektrumCool looking :)Long battery lifeTons of featuresGreat feeling gimbalsAFHDS2A is a great upgrade from AFHDS in terms of rangeCons:Quite small (a little too small for me)Sometimes feels like a toySwitches come loose every few weeksCan't tweak gyros on airplanes (on for heli's)Bottom line: great first TX :)

Good stuff
Very intuitive, the on board menu system is not a problem and is pretty explanatory as to function. The ability to store twenty models with settings, trims, etc. is a real plus. I have experienced no problems as to range or anything else for that matter. The gimbals move smoothly and give great control. This comes with three - two position switches, one - three position switch and two variometers. The variometers would probably be good for using a camera gimbal though I have no experience with this as yet. It comes with one PWM receiver which is enough for a good start particularly if you are flying a basic airplane or glider that only uses three or four channels. The PPM receiver comes in at the hefty (NOT) price of around 15 bucks. Great deal for a quality receiver.

Excellent performance for the price!
This transmitter and receiver pack performs as well as I expected it to. This is my second transmitter from FlySky, I previously used the FlySky T6. As far as I can tell, it functions just as well as the T6 edition and includes some design improvements. The ability to save trim settings for different planes is an excellent feature (also possible on the T6).FlySky FS-T6 2.4ghz Digital Proportional 6 Channel Transmitter and Receiver ModelPros:Great for beginner useDesign changes - slimmer, different color, and less AA batteries (when compared to the T6)Easy to use interfaceBright screenEasy to bind the receiver to the transmitterGreat price!Cons:I wish the scroll selector, found on the T6 would have remained on this transmitter. Also, the receiver pins are exposed, allowing for easy damage unlike the T6 receiver which is encased with plastic for protection
