Q: will this keyboard and mouse work with any computer? i want to use it with an asus K55a laptop. is it easy to 'connect' it up with little expertise?

As far as I know the keyboard and mouse are tied to the small USB receiver and is said to be plug-and-play. With my system which is windows 10 I just plugged the receiver into the USB socket then fitted the batteries into each unit and away it went. My impression is that the phrase plug-and-play is what counts and any modern computer, PC, Laptop or tablet, with a USB socket will handle this Combo. Hope my opinion helps.

Yes it does have flip out feet, one on either end of the keyboard

Q: Does anyone use this with an nvidia shield tv?

I've tried. The range is quite poor though so you have to sit pretty close to the Shield.
