Great pack - but consider a BFM instead
Prior to purchasing this pack, I owned a HAWG and a Sparta, but I wanted something bigger for weekend-length hikes. I felt that the BFM would be just too big for my taste, so I tried out the Motherlode. The five stars are for the quality of the product itself - Camelbak makes amazing packs! But - if I were to make a recommendation to buyers, I would consider a BFM instead - depending on your needs. The Motherlode is basically a stripped down BFM - it's missing the side water bottle pockets of the BFM, does not have the hefty waist belt and does not have the futura harness. The motherlode is a great pack for people who want to customize their side pack MOLLE (and of course the ability to totally remove side pockets), and don't care about the futura harness or the hefty waist belt. The BFM will be a better choice for people who are using this for hiking and that sort of thing. The harness system on the BFM is the best i've seen on a military pack - it is fully customizable to your torso size and the waist belt holds your pack weight a lot better than the Motherlode will. And the water bottle pockets on the side mean I don't need to purchase extra MOLLE packs for the side , which I'd be putting water bottle holders on anyways. When all was said and done, I ended up returning the Motherlode for the BFM, but I think both packs are great and it really depends on your needs.

A wonderful carry all
This bag is so large and versatile I can throw my computer and my uniform in this bag and use it as my carry on weekend bag. The ability to strap things tight makes it super comfortable because things are moving around as your rushing to your next flight.

Great pack.
Use as a daily pack. Can hold a lot when needed and compression straps keep it small when I don't need all the space. Traveled easily for a week but also does great on the train to work.

This is a very nice piece of gear. A little expensive, but it looks and feels very high quality.

Got mistaken for Military
Almost got a discount from a foreign amusement park lol. Build quality great, plenty of room, and ample adjustments.

Organizational overload!
Perfect for what I do! Fits a large 3 ring binder, rain jacket, snacks, all my EDC essentials, and a MacBook Pro. I keep my laptop in the back zippered bladder pocket for added protection from the foam lining and also easy access. Tons of pockets makes for better organization! I like that the space grows tall rather than outward so it’s more conformed to my body and more evenly distributed the weight. Great pack!

Best backpack i've had
Very comfortable, 40 lbs feels like nothing in this. Distributes weight well. I use it for school and rucking. Sturdy construction and I love having a camelback accessible at all times.
