Orb Factory My First Picture Maker

My daughter got this for her 4th birthday and it is awesome!! We have done The Orb Factory sticky mosaics and my kids also love them. I like this because they can be done over and over! The blocks are very sparkly and pretty and she loves that! It is educational because kids have to match colors, numbers, shapes, alphabet, etc. My 6 year old son also loves this. They argue over who gets to do it. I can't say enough about this toy. If you are even considering it go for it. You will not regret it. If your kids likes arts/crafts then this is the ideal toy for them. I will be buying for bday gifts in the future!!

I got this for my 4 year old daughter and she LOVES it. Breaking apart all the little magnetic pieces wore on my fingers, but it was an easy task. The pieces are just the right size for little fingers... big enough for her to pick up easily, but small enough to create a picture with. Offers different ways of matching up the colors, whether it be through color matching or number matching. This one has the glitter/sparkling pieces, which added to her excitement. Several nice size pictures with a board that is very sturdy. This is a great hobby craft/project that can be used over and over.

I bought this for my 4 1/2 yr old niece, and she Loved it! I did too - it comes with a table top easel stand and a variety of stencils to use. What I liked most was the foam magnetic squares they are all sparkly. It very easy to use and to follow the instructions. It a paint by number without the paint. I totally recommend this as a gift or for your own children.

We ordered a few Orb Factory projects for our 6 year old son and knew that our almost-3-year old daughter would be wanting to participate in the activity as well. So we purchased this magnetic Orb Factory project. The idea of this is perfect. It is magnetic so no "mistakes" to be made as with the other sticker-type mosaic projects. The color matching with numbers or shapes is great and so educational. Her little fingers can manipulate the squares just fine. She LOVES the sparkles on them.There are a few reasons this product is getting only 4 stars instead of 5 from us - despite the fact that we love the product. First, the magnetic board is not very strong and the magnets do not stick the best. It is adequate but can get frustrating for little hands that bump the square next to the one they're placing. Second, the stand and board are flimsy and knock over fairly easily. We end up using the board laying down while doing the project and setting it up on the stand for display most of the time. Third, the templates have nothing to keep them on the board. A clip or a tighter fit on the board would have been very helpful so the paper wouldn't slide around.All things, however, that have not kept us from thoroughly enjoying the product for this age group nor keep from impressing us with its educational value!

Finally a clean way for the kids to make art! My preschoolers love this. It's fun to use and easy for small hands. There are other versions of this that are a little more complicated and have smaller pieces for kids that are a little older. I bought a small organizer from Michael's to store all the little colored squares - seems easier than sifting through a bag of mixed up blocks. Plus, it's fun for the kids to sort the colors again when we're done.

I ordered this to have when grandchildren visited. My husband opened it up to let the 3-year old play with it. They ended up boxing up all the pieces, saying that the magnets didn't work. I haven't even looked at it yet. We were so busy taking care of a 1-year old and a 3-year old, that the box got put aside and 'left for dead'.

I saw this in the elementary school where I work with 1st-6th graders and found that kids of all ages really like using it. Great for learning and following directions as well as being creative on your own. Also good for building fine motor skills. I bought it for my 4 and 6 year old nephews. The only thing that I would change is for there to be extra of each color in case some go missing or for when creating your own pictures.

My girls (ages 6 and 3) love The Orb Factory's sticker mosaics, so we had high hopes for the magnetic My First Picture Maker. Unfortunately, it provide more frustrating than fun. First and foremost, the magnets were quiet weak and did not stick well through the cardboard patterns. Second, the colored plastic faces fell off many of the tiles even with gentle handling. Third, the product came with no good system for organizing the tiles into anything other than a jumbled mess in the bottom of the carton. (We separated the colors and stored them in individual zipper bags.) Fourth, the foam pieces had a very strong chemical smell that clung to little hands even after the pieces had been allowed to air out for several weeks. I held on to our My First Picture Maker for about two years in the hopes that one of the girls would develop an interest in it. During that time, it came off the shelf only a handful of times, and no more than four of the picture cards were ever completed. I finally got rid of it (at the girls' urging) in this year's pre-Christmas closet clean-out.
