Very Cool Item
Beautifully made and a conversation starter. However I bought this barometer to add some science to my fishing, which I believe it will as it seems pretty responsive to changing weather conditions. However there is some confusion over how to interpret the readings. The instructions indicate that a rising level of water in the skinny tube/spout indicates falling barometric pressure, but the FAQ states the opposite. I called the company and they confirmed that the paper instructions are correct, i.e. low spout level = high relative pressure. As far as initial setup, you want to set the level when local barometric pressure is at or close to 30.00. You can find it by Googling. Adding a drop of red oil (as recommended by previous reviewer) is a great idea to keep the water from evaporating. I also asked the company rep why instructions call for "indoor use only". He said only for the purpose of protecting it from breakage, otherwise no problem. I mounted ours in our screened patio and looks good there. Hope this helps.

Liquid Barometer
Works like a liquid barometer does. Temp/humidity gauges seem to work within reasonable accuracy. Drip cup is plastic.

Nice barometer
Have wanted a replacement for mine from years ago that was slightly different. Tried several times to fill the storm glass BUT no water would go through the inlet on the end of the syringe, seemed like the suction on the inlet was making too strong of a suction, not even a drop of water would go through the tube into the storm glass. Finally I decided to try using a toothpick to make sure the end of the inlet wasn't sealed shut and it WAS. Once I opened it with a toothpick on the end, all worked like it was supposed to. (Sharing this info in case another customer has this same issue)The Weather Station looks very nice hanging on the wall.

Just beautiful!
Arrived in time for a Father's day gift. Packaged well, glass safe and sound packed in its Styrofoam box. It's just beautiful!

Beautiful weather barometer
I bought this for my mom for Christmas. As a kid, we used to have a liquid weather barometer hanging in our kitchen, and she said all she wanted for Christmas was a new one, since the one from my childhood broke in a move. I think she totally forgot she told me she wanted one, because months later, at Christmas, she cried when she pulled this out of the box. The wooden backing is beautiful, the glass feels high quality and was well packaged in styrofoam. It even has a little drip tray in case the water overflows from the barometer pipe. Beautiful! Glad I ordered it!

Water barometer
How else would I know if my headache is from the air pressure? This works great when pressurized correctly. Watch the how- to's.We like seeing the air pressure change from the weather.

Works great!
I've always wanted a liquid barometer. I had no problem at all setting this up. A few days after having it hung on my wall I had looked outside and the sky was looking very stormy. I didn't actually notice my barometer at the time, however, after the rain had passed I noticed liquid in the overflow dish. This is unique wall display, and a fun conversation wall decor.I would buy it again.

Great better than a mechanical barometer
No more tapping on the glass like you have to do with an mechanical barometer.NOTE: I added a DROP of RED Transmission / Power Steering fluid after I was done calibrating. The RED oil seals the water from evaporation and acts as an Indicator, see photo.OR you can just use Vegetable Oil of some sort, just try a contrasting color of Oil or Water Tint.Wait about a MONTH before adding OIL to ensure your not overflowing.SUGGESTION: Hang this in the HALLWAY, so you walk by it each morning and SEE what forecast is for today!Directions are a little vague. A barometric pressure of [30.00 in.] is considered to be NEUTRAL.So you'll have to WAIT until your local pressure is 30.00 per your local Weather Service. Then adjust the spout and reservoir level to be EQUAL.You'll now have a REFERENCE point where you can see if the spout level is HIGHER or LOWER than the reservoir level and be able to predict the weather. In the picture of my barometer, the current pressure was 29.77.As always, hoped this helped at least one person :)
