Subtle hair color, effective gloss, deep moisturizer and non-damaging product.
Let me start with some background about my hair to put my experience with the dpHUE hair color in perspective. I have naturally medium brown hair. To say that my hair is thin and fine is an understatement. It is spiderweb fine! I went blonde about a decade ago, which substantially damaged my hair. I have been dying it medium brown for the past couple of years. I have lots of grays. I had experienced significant stress and hormones related hair loss in the past several years. I am pretty paranoid about trying new hair colors as I'm always afraid of the damage and the potential trigger for another hair shed.I had this dpHUE hair color/gloss in my Amazon cart for a couple of months. I just could not get myself to try it as I have not colored my hair at home for over 20 years. But the salon trips are expensive, more frequent because of all my grays and cause me anxiety every single time. So I talked my coworker into trying this product as she is very adventurous with her hair and will try pretty much anything. She reported back that the product left her hair feeling silky and shiny but didn't do much for her color as her hair is naturally dark brown/almost black.I was encouraged about the fact that the product was not damaging and decided to try it. I was between the cool medium brown and light brown. I decided to go a little lighter at first and went with the light brown.First of all, this product is very easy to apply and rinse off. It leaves a little bit of tint on your hands, which is gone after a couple of washes. Next time, I'll just wear gloves.I was extremely nervous the first time so I left it on for only 10 minutes. I applied it on damp hair as instructed. I combed it with a fine tooth comb to make sure it was evenly spread. I noticed maybe a tiny change in color but honestly not much. It left my hair shiny and silky smooth though. And most of all, no itching, shedding or damage.I went to the reviews to learn that some have used it on dry hair and left it on longer for deeper color and gray coverage. I wasn't sure how soon I can reapply but decided to just do it the very next day. I applied it to dry hair. I do have to say that it was harder to smooth it over my hair and it was a bit messier. I left it on for 15 minutes. Again, no damage and silky smooth hair. I saw a noticeable change in color and at least 80% of my grays got covered.I am going to switch to the cool medium brown. Even though I am very happy with how this product treated my hair, the color just does not look great on me. I prefer cooler tones and the light brown definitely pulls more bronze/red. It is a very pretty color, just not for me.Some of the reviews said the product is too expensive. For me, if I use it for at least 15 minutes to get the desired results, it is definitely worth the price with the estimated 8 to 12 applications. I highly recommend the dpHUE hair color/gloss. It is really a great product so don't wait months like me and just do it.

LOVE this product!! Some tips for best results…
I was very hesitant to buy this product due to the mixed reviews, but I decided to go for it and I’m so glad I did!First two pics are before and second are after. Shown in indirect and direct sunlight. My hair is naturally dark blonde and I used the strawberry gloss. I have the tiniest hit of red, but it can only be seen in direct sunlight. My goal was to intensify that hint of red and become a true strawberry blonde, and I was also open to being a true redhead. I almost went for the copper color, and I know that many of the bad reviews are with that color. If you have any shade of blonde or maybe even light brown hair and want somewhat subtle results, I’d recommend going with strawberry over copper. There are a few factors that I think contribute to a beautiful result with this product.1. Virgin hair - my hypothesis for why some people experience patchy results is differing porosities of hair texture on the same head. I bleached my hair for many years, and I don’t think this product is ideal for that texture. I stopped about 4 years ago and have now fully grown out and cut off any color-treated hair.2. Ensuring an exfoliated scalp and fully clean hair - it seems like some folks were left with vivid roots and a dyed scalp. At least every other time I wash my hair, I use a scalp scrub before shampooing. I then use a clarifying shampoo focusing on the scalp and roots, rinse it out, and then a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo on both the roots and lengths of my hair. I only use the clarifying shampoo when I am about to apply a hair treatment. The other times I shampoo twice with the same gentle shampoo. Before I started using a scalp scrub, I didn’t think I had much product/oil build-up, but it has been an absolute game changer in my routine. But that’s a review for another day lol.3. Be intentional and thorough with application - I personally wouldn’t recommend putting this product into your hair while you’re still in the shower like you would with conditioner like some other reviewers have said. I do scalp scrub, double shampoo, and then the rest of my shower routine. After I get out and dry off, I squeeze excess water out of my hair by scrunching with a cotton turban, but a t-shirt would be just as good. I then section my hair into quadrants and make sure I thoroughly saturate each section and comb through it with a wide-toothed comb before moving on to the next section. I use gloves for this step. Once I’m done, I comb it all out again to ensure every strand is coated evenly. Then I put my hair up in a big claw clip.4. Saturation time - the first time I used this product, I only left it in for about 10 minutes, maybe less, as I was terrified I would experience overly pigmented, patchy results. I am relieved that was not the case, but leaving the product in for that short of a time gave me very, very subtle results. The next few times I have extended the leave-in time to 15-30 minutes and have liked the result more the longer I leave it in before rinsing.5. Rinsing - after the product has had time to sit, I get back in the shower and thoroughly rinse. I have not noticed the color coming out at all in the water like some have said. I have only used the strawberry gloss, so that may be a factor, but I also think rinsing with cool/cold water helps. I don’t add conditioner after rinsing out the gloss, but I do put in the leave-in conditioner I always use after a wash and then style as usual.I know this was very long-winded, but I hope someone finds it helpful, whether you are considering buying this product or already bought it and were disappointed with your results. I have applied this 3, maybe 4, times now and have only used about a third of the bottle. For context, my hair goes past my shoulders and is slightly thicker than average. I use about 3 pumps per section of hair. I wash my hair every 5 days, so I get about a month of noticeable color per application.I will definitely keep using this product for the foreseeable future. Wishing you wonderful results!

I use it to tone out orange hue that sometimes happens with dye jobs
Let me start by saying that this will not cover your gray hair. No semi permanent dye that only sits on your hair for a few minutes can do that. I have tried them all. But it does tone my hair beautifully and leaves it looking shiny and moisturized. I have been really impressed with all of the DP hue products I have tried for toning. My brown hair can sometimes turn orangey. I color my hair with a mixture of henna, indigo, and Amla to cover the grays, but yellow and orange tones come in strong sometimes. It’s hard to keep your hair toned exactly right all the time when coloring or going in the sun. This is a great quick fix that works better than blue tone shampoos.I would say you get exactly what it says: cool medium brown. If you’ve got an ash brown color, this is one of the only brown toning conditioners I have ever found that actually adds cool tones. So many brands I have tried add too many warm tones.I’m only giving it four instead of five because it doesn’t condition my hair quite enough on its own. I have lots of fine wavy hair and I have to condition afterward with a thicker conditioner to get my hair properly moisturized.
